Hi Keith,
They have got a 40 mph limit through there now, also some red traffic calming patches. There is one of those signs that lights up saying slow down as you approach from the Ludlow side into that bend,it’s always been a notorious blackspot, can’t see them getting a bypass,it’ all national trust ground on the Leominster side belonging to Berrington Hall the big place with the lake on the right hand side with the railings, the big parkland was designed by Capability Brown a famous landscape architect for the knobs years ago,in the 16th century.
Cheers Dave.Dave i used that road quite often and never seemed to have to much trouble with that bend we was carring bitumen stacked 3 pallets high
in them cardboard kegs 40 ft trailers. perhaps it was people not knowing the road.
Desert driver said it was a constant repair job. WELL i traveled a road Leek to Macc and i thought this chap was slow rebuilding this sandstone wall.
any howe i got to know him and he told me he’d nealy finished and it was flattened ages went by then he got the go ahead guess what■■? same thing
happened again he finnaly got it finished. 2 months later bang down it went again. Its got a big crash barrier on it now.
John

Hi Chris & Co,
There’s a panel fence on the garden of one of the cottages next to the old Chukie Chicken, now Britparts entrance just out of Craven Arms,by the side of the A49. The fence is always being knocked down and replaced, obviously the insurers of the vehicles that demolish it,have to replace it.
Another from Knighton market.
Hi Dave,I found this lurking in the cuttings mate…dunno if its of interest to your regular lads.

Hi Dave & Andrew,
Missed the boat again there didn’t I, do go to Telford now and again, but don’t think I’ll be finding the Circus,as Telford covers a big area. Will have to watch out for them next winter.
Will post some more pics this evening, they aren’t old but they haven’t been on before.
Cheers Dave.
I could get in some sort of a mess trying to get that lot going backwards in a straight line!!!
hiya,
Once got “volunteered” to help bring the circus from Rochdale to Blackburn was on for Bowkers at the time, and yes Dave the TM was actually a clown still had traces of make-up on his face the circus was Billy Smarts i got lumbered with an ancient Octopus with two trailers one with part of the big top the other had animals on board the motor was loaded with seating, the trailer boy was an Arab and part of the trapeze act, i remember the “boy” had to lift the engine cover several times en-route and from an old milk churn ladle what looked like old engine into the engine while still on the move fortunately i did’nt have to reverse it when i got to Ewood just pulled up in a straight line drew my wages £10 and a hand full of tickets, which i hasten to add i could’nt give away, this was one Saturday left the tickets on the pub bar they was still there on Sunday lunchtime, the year was about 1965 and a tenner was good money for a couple of hours work, and i was running bent did’nt really have enough hours left, but those boys don’t have any rules and regs.
thanks harry long retired.

Got a catalogue here somewhere, also atkidave has a pic of it in his book he did about " Roberts Transport ",as Andrew says it doesn’t seem 17 years ago,it was a big blow to Knighton when Roberts packed up.
Cheers Dave.
