I dont remember any Fodens, but that doesnt mean that there wasnt any, atkidaves dad would remember far better, they lived down that way.
Did you know that the very first Foden was built in Bucknell, at the B & J Davies workshops, the Foden and Davies family are related.
regards Andrew.

Hi Tony,
On the panel on photobucket where it says options click on that, then you will see all the sizes, click the size you want and confirm or submit at the bottom and then upload them.
Cheers Dave.

They had a Foden four wheeler on tar spraying, they had a biggish fleet, some of which only appeared in the tar spraying season.Someone around Bucknell must have some pics, also some of B & J’s,when I next see John Jet Morgan I will ask him.
Cheers Dave.

Hi Dave, I suppose the old Fodens would have been ideal lorries, esp with the connection of Fodens and Bucknell, and like you say Jet Morgan is probally the one to ask,or prehaps the Stead boys.An old Scammel was left in Woolies old yard uptill a few years ago, wonder if any of their old motors still exist,I love the shape of the Highwaymen, a mini KW.
regards Andrew.

Hi Andrew,
Went through Bucknell this morning, there’s a circus wintering where Des Owen used to park his lorries, also a tipper parked down in there, might have a look in there and see if we can get some pics,at the worst we can only get thrown out by sme clowns.
Cheers Dave.

Hi Dave, big problem, never trust a clown, you never know when they are going to get nasty, they always got a smile on their faces

Andrew, every circus has a clown, and most firms has a few as well, some are usually found in a position of authority masquarading as the ringmaster.
Cheers Dave.

Dave ,are you misstaking clowns to cowboys ? on some rodeos its a job to tell the difference !
Do you remember when Jet had the cowcatcher nicked from his B & J Foden ?, Knighton May fair turned up the following year and guess what…one of tthe showmans Fodens was sporting a new cowcatcher,(not saying that it was the same cowcatcher of course)
regards Andrew

Hi Andrew,
Jet didn’t hang around,he’s not got that nickname for nothing.I agree plenty of cowboys, but they are usually someof the operators,it’s some of the workers who are the clowns.
Cheers Dave.

Hi Dave, not one of Wolleys, but a Scammel after all. Too true about Jet Morgan, it used to be a bit of a job to hang onto his shirttails at times !!

Those are the one’s I remember Andrew, they were running a lot of those and others that seemed aincient years ago,but you never saw them broken down.
Cheers Dave.

Dave , here is one that might just be, although im sure that if Ken Sexton was still around he would have it going in no time.

and just to prove that I didnt imagine a triaxle Scammel unit, move over ice road truckers.
regards Andrew.

Here’s another for you Andrew, whose contraption is this  looks like an old skip lorry with a big concrete block on the back, coupled to a stock trailer on a DIY drawbar, couldnt get a pic of the whole thing, because of other vehicles.
Or it could be one of Setton & Durwards old units.

HI Dave, just remembered why the farmer had gone this way, and the answer is ■■?
regards Andrew.

Hi Andrew,
To probably class it as an agricultural tractor and run it without a LGV licence, altough there is a tax disc in the screen,it’s a weird looking outfit.
Cheers Dave.

think your right dave, seen it round town a few times allways got the beacons on and driving at tractor pace

Another repeat requested by my mate Paul Griffiths.

Another Scania pictured at Knighton livestock market Radnorshire.

Hiya…Andrew your not reading all the sites. On the South Wales site i put a list of Number plates on of Sids special Scammells
and he built 7 of the buggers. One chap has perchesed one and taken of the axel its now painted green and pulls a living van to shows.
the reason to build them was to reduce the tax as they was only 32 tonners.I was talking to the chap with the Green Scammell
and he told me every time Sid went to the test station there was a stand off with the testers about rights and wrongs but Sid always won.
There is a site about Harrisons and its worth a visit and theres photos of many lorries

all the local farmers come and helped themselves of my load and the merchant put some onto their small trucks.have you any idea where
that would have been■■? it was in town.have you any photo’s of whos merchant it could have been.
John

Hi John,
It would either be J & P Turner or Passey Nott & Co. Turners are still going with one lorry, and Passey nott sold out about 22 years ago.
Cheers Dave
Hiya Dave I’ll put a pound on Passy Nott.I’am almost certain they had Bedfords as well at that time. Thanks for the pikky’s.
John.

Hi boys
While your on the subject of merchants we used to deliver seed potatos from Ireland to a place in Leominster. If you came in from the north over the crossings round the sharp left, past the car park, round the sharp right and it was there on the left before the lights.I note it’s been gone a few years now, anyone remember the name?

Regards Keith.

Hi John,
My dad was working there then,he drove for Passey nott for over 40 years,he would have had a Laird then,he had a new TK on a P plate soon after that time,he was the first one and the only one they sent for a class one hgv when they came in 1969,only wanted him to do the course so that he could ride shotgun with new drivers and prepare them for the test, crafty gits saved money by getting him to do it. He would have had a class two on grandfathers rights as they ran a couple of six wheelers, good old firm, but not lorry men the bosses, bought Bedfords and BMC had a D series Ford, also had an Albion Reiver, finished up with a few TM’ six wheelers and a half a dozen four wheelers when they sold up in the late 80’s.
Cheers Dave.
