hiya,
Dave that’ll do for me i’ll get the train down there, every time i did something that size the outfit was on the floor usually 70 tons and up but that looks like a nice light flying load.
thanks harry long retired

Hi Harry,
You are probably right about the weight, not that I know much about heavy haulage. I will ask Fred what weight those cabins were, judging by the trailers, wouldn’t think they would be very heavy, especialy with the overhang on the trailer of Patrick’s.
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
Dave just depends what the inside is finished off like my guess is 10 to 12 tons max just like a big egg shell.
thanks harry long retired.

Great pics Jonmea,

I agree with Dave, it is good to see that not all tippers are painted white!!

Is Owen Jones still running his ERF eight wheeler out of Minfford?

Cheers
Mark

Re White tippers
I was in Kitwee Zambia Feb/March earlier this year and round the corner two white ones a Foden and a Volvo with a little green and yellow in the corners so as you say. Its nice to see a little personal touch. The Volvo i saw i’am certain i used to see on the M54 really smart with plenty marker lights. I did’nt get a photo as the people i was with did’nt do trucks. I saw more ERFs than I thought possible many still in company colours.
John.

Patrick Rawlings with Hereford Galvanizers Volvo FL7.

Back to the tippers, this Volvo FL6 was seen on the A5 between Shrewsbury and Oswestry.

I have switched to tinypic, same as flatman John,if these images are to big,let me know.
Cheers Dave.

Saw this Daf of Truswell’s on the A49,last week.

One of Ellis transport Ltd from Cambridge in Gloucestershire, seen on the A5 near Montford Bridge.

Couldn’t think waht this Scania was, when we saw it coming in the distance,on the A49 Leominster bypass.Looks like a big hook.

hiya,
Dave is the Hereford Galvanizers anything to do with Painter Bros the pylon makers where i’ve loaded out of several times or is that gone now, i seem to remember taking angle iron there from Jarrow many moons ago.
thanks harry long retired.

Hi Harry,
Can’t answer that,Painter Bros were in Holmer Rd, Hereford Galvanisers are in Redbarn Drive by Sun Valley, don’t think they are connected, but someone wil know. I will ask Fred Rawlings, his son has driven for them, for about twenty years.
Cheers Dave.

Dave the Renegade:
How many of you remember the tipper operators from the Kington and Knighton area on the welsh borders, many of them working out of the Gore, Strinds, Dolyhir and Nash quarries, Many tippers are still operating in the area, but only a handful of older operators.

Hi Dave,i used to work out of Gore for Tilcon in the 70s-80-90s,i have a lot of tilcon tipper photo’s but cannot find anywaqty to upload some on here…cheers…countycruiser…

Hi countycruiser,
Were you local to the Gore,or came into the Gore from another Tilcon Quarry.
Cheers Dave.

Greetings Countycruiser, I used to call at Gore when I drove for Stuart Burgin (STB TRANSPORT) in the '90’s at the time of the M5 widening, I guess our paths must have crossed. Get those pics on here, ex Tilcon myself!!

Pete.
