Great stuff Dave, loved the one of the Foden under the belt at Tower. If I had a £1 for every time I have been under there I would be a very rich man. The S type Bedford still looks the part, one of the first wagons I drove, had one with a petrol in it and that would go at some rate, then we go onto the diesels they went well trouble was my car had a petrol engine in it
so not a lot of good to me. Keep um coming mate.
cheers
John.

Hi John,
My old man drove petrol engined Bedfords and Austins from wartime onwards, told his firm each time they wanted him to have a new diesel, can’t get to the farms with them, keep getting stuck. They believed him until the early sixties, diesel TK then.
Cheers Dave.
I think that’s where the saying cheap motoring came from Dave
Cheers
John.

This DAF 2800E was bought from Roberts sale. B324 HAU was my dads 4th lorry at Roberts, then John Cunnington had it in the quarry. Shown here loaded for the Nash Rocks quarry at Tonfanau, but usually pulled the yellow tautliner seen in the background on Wilsons dog food from Dundee. Any more photo’s of it dave?

Hi Dave,
I have some more of it,which I will post over the next few days. I remember John Cunnington driving it after the HOT reg Daf. Derek lent me about 60 pics of which 40 are older lorries of theirs, the rest being newer. I have uploaded most of them, hope to do the rest tomorrow, and get them back to him. I don’t like keeping them long,as they are part of their history and can’t be replaced.
Cheers Dave.
Here you are Atkidave, think this is HAU,been in the wars by the look of it.Seen here being unloaded in the yard.Just had another look, its got a different fleet number to HAU.
Another shot of the bent Daf.
