My old mate Clem Davies pictured at the Gore Quarry in the late sixties,the quarry was then owned by Mann-Abell.
Clem is seen here loading an AEC eight wheeler,looks like a Mann- Abell logo on the door,but the only AEC i can remember there in those days,was run by Freddie Brace from Hereford,and then sold to Doug Dawe another Hereford Haulier who ran out of the Gore.

He had that one new in 1967,they replaced it with another Aveling Barford in 1970 on a H plate,the newer one had a Leyland 400 engine,those two machines were a big step forward in those days,after some of the loading shovels of previous years.
