hi Dave A few pics from Minffordd quarry

Hi jonmea,
Great pics, the FL7 pictured under the plant belonged to Tony Lewis from new. Dave Thomas drove it the whole time he had it,in those days it was yellow,it looked one of the tidiest lorries running out of the Gore.
Cheers Dave.

Can’t remember where we met this patriotic Welsh Driver in this Volvo timber carriage.it was north of Shrewsbury  .

Hi Dave I emember the fl7 arriving in Minffordd. It had come straight out of the paint shop Looked like a new lorry. Still in Minffordd every day. goes well.

Hi jonmea,
The FM9 that Dave Thomas has had since that FL7 is exactly the same, its on an 03 plate,he keeps it imaculate, can’t see Tony Lewis getting rid of that one, unless he retires.
Cheers Dave.

Hi jonmea,
Here is Dave Thomas FM9 taken a few months ago.

Les Sutton drives this Scania for Roy Edwards at M A Evans of Knighton. Les has driven for the firm for at least forty years.

Hi jonmea,
That lorry is virtually as new, they did have a bit of trouble with it down on power a while back, but couldn’t find the problem. I haven’t asked Dave Thomas if its ok now.
Cheers Dave.

One of R F Bellis of Wrexham, running under the JCB banner, seen on the A49,Leominster bypass.

A six wheeler Scania block lorry, seen on the A477 on Carew bypass Pembrokeshire, back in the bbq summer of 2009.

Hi Dave,

A few queries for you, Im just catching up as Ive been away on holiday.

On page 52 you have taken a pic of a blue ERF EC eight wheeler coming off the Britannia Bridge, can you remember who runs it?

I was wondering the other day whether the Rutalnd Electric Fencing Co still had any of their ERFs and up pops yur pic on Page 55, did you take the pic recently?

I enjoyed the pics of the wagons loading at Gore on Page 54, a few more like that would be good.

Cheers
Mark

Hi Mark,
The ERF on Britannia Bridge was taken on sept 28th this year, don’t know who’s lorry it was,but there were quite a few bellonging to the same firm, they were local to that area.
The Rutland ERF,was taken last monday,it was at the snack van when we pulled in for a mug of tea.
Can take pics at the Gore anytime,as I live 2 miles from there, can see the quarry from here,on the other side of the valley.
If you have any pics, stick them on. Thanks for the feedback.
Cheers Dave.

Road Commander the ERF belongs to EW & H Williams of Llanwnda near Caernarfon.

They have a smart fleet of about 10-16 rigid tippers. The ERF’s are the old ones in the fleet now. They have a couple of Volvo FM’s with G/trotter cabs and a couple of brand new MAN TGA 8x4’s which look (IMO) the mutts nuts!

They are run by a pair of brothers who took it over from their old man. I used to run out of Abergele with them and they are good lads.

Hope this helps.

Pity this estate came along as the pic was taken, but never mind. Daf tanker taken on the A49 Leominster bypass.
