Mate, you and the good lady are doing a fantastic job.
Truly.
I love those new Cat dumpers. So far removed from the dumpers I used to see in Peakstone quarry in the mid 80s as to be unrecognisable !
A couple more of the Strinds/Dolyhir quarry fleet, parked at the Strinds.
Couple more Daf’s,one of Phil Morris, the other Dave Powells, parked at Strinds quarry.
Owner Driver Les Jarrett, fueling up his 310 powered Scania four wheeler at Strinds Quarry. For a bloke who has worked as a professional photographer,Les is a bit camera shy.
Not a Welsh Border Tipper, but this one of Carefoot’s had just loaded out of the Strinds/Dolyhir quarries,we met his mate just up the road,a third lorry of Carefoots arrived just after, but missed to get loaded and had to park up with several other artics, who were also parked for the night.
Another lorry of Carefoot’s coming out of Strinds/Dolyhir quarries.
Here is the third one of Carefoot’s we saw the other day, this one was unlucky,he was to late to get loaded,so had to spend the night by the Strinds weighbridge.Marc has posted today an Atki artic of Carefoot’s, on his huge scrapbook memories thread.
This Volvo artic is coming out of the B road that links the Strinds and Dolyhir quarries with the A44. I was going to turn onto that road, so I flashed him and his mate who is following out. The place is Stanner,a dangerous and busy junction.
Here is the other artic, which was following, don’t know whose they were,as there are lots of wagons backloading chippings out of the quarries,to various parts of the country at the moment.
Another pic taken in our BBQ summer, one of Sutton’s coming through Llandovery ( I think, memory is going )the other week.
Another one overnighting it outside the Strinds quarry entrance. This smart MAN was from Leicestershire, can’t remember the name on the door.
My old mate John Cross has found some more old one’s for me,will try and pick them up,will get the thread back to the nostalgic days.
It looks like one of Sileby’s Garage from Woodhouse Eves Dave, they used to have a largish fleet of 8 wheel Foden’s running out of the old Redland quarry at Mountsorrel. Always looked a tidy fleet, we used to run with them on largish contracts such as the M 40 construction in the eighties.
Pete.

Thanks Pete, I saw the name on the side, but forgot what it was, only had a glance as I drove past. Saw a lot of nice artics running in towards the quarries this lunchtime, but was driving on my own,so no woman,no pics will get some more another time.
Cheers Dave.
