Another of Paul’s pics from Dorset, an old moter this time.

The following pics are of Percy Hall, one of Sharples of Eardisley’s drivers, taken in 1966. Percy was a friend of Paul Griffiths, who has lent me these pics, unforunately Percy passed on, a couple of years ago.
Percy picture with his Foden eight wheeler on Brecon Beacons, this Foden eight wheeler was new reg FCJ862D, on his way to the steel works.

Percy’s lorry being loaded at the steelworks, we are not sure which one. Paul thinks Ebbw Vale, I think its Margam Port Talbot.

Another pic of Percy’s lorry in the steelworks.

Percy takes a ride at the steelworks.

Inside the steelworks.Still loading the lorry.

Percy roping the load, no curtainsiders then.

Another pic of Percy getting ready to roll,. BRS Bristol behind.

Good pic this one, through the looking glass,as they say.

Still not sure which steel town this is, come on you south wales boys, give us the answer.

Another shot of the town, not enough hills for Ebbw Vale in my opinion, me thinks Port Talbot, but could be one of the others.

Anyone recognise the river.

A470 Brecon Beacons, just below the Storey Arms, the steel wagons had to pass over the Beacons to get to South Wales, the Storey Arms was a refuge when drivers got stuck in the snow.

Sign post just outside Penderyn, Brecon Beacons.

Percy getting to know one of the Brecon locals.

Got this one wrong, in this pic feeding the sheep, is Colin Evans, who drove and did mechanic work, for Sharples up until they finished last year, he now works out of Sharples yard with his Son, who runs a truck repair business.
