Dave,it was nice to see V101 new,by the time I got it she was a bit tired and the rear of the body was falling apart. I spent hours with the MIG welder putting plates in to try and stop it cracking. Paul had an A reg Foden off me that I had tugged the 230 Gardner out of and fitted a 270 I think thats the yellow 1 in the yard with the steel body.I remember going on a trip in the car up to John O’Groats and coming up behind a tipper and thinking the body was familiar, Paul had put the body off the our old Foden and put it on another and thats the 1 from Scrabster at the top of this page,I recognised the ladder I made for it,the tape measure must have been lost that day.I agree with you that the 4000 A5 CWG with the latest grill is 1 of the nicest looking trucks on here if I remember she had a C12 395hp and a 13 speed, Paul and Clarence came by 1 day in it to have a nose at a Daf that had just been smashed up and if my heart ruled my head they would have left in a taxi with a cheque.

Another pic of the Alpha, and the 4000 series in C W Griffiths yard.
J500BFO 3000 Foden pictured in C W Griffiths yard, can’t quite see who the driver is.Paul will put me right on that.
J500BFO Once again, from the front.

Dave, what did Paul think of the Hino?
I’ve heard good and bad things about them. I’ve sat in one and the driving position seemed a little odd, you seem to sit quite high in them somehow. However, they seem more basic (in a good way) than some modern tippers. There is only so much technology you need on what is basically a 32tonne wheelbarrow!
Really enjoying all these pictures, keep em’ coming.

Hi Hammer,
Paul hasn’t said what he thought about the Hino. He has loaned me a load of pics, and I found that among them and stuck it on here, thought it was a good shot of a tipper at work. A bit different to when I drove for his Dad, he had his own spreader, you would be stuck on the ramps for ages, also sometimes you drove the lorry and spread the lime, no straight tips like this one. I will ask him about the Hino.
C W Griffiths sold their A series ERF to A E Gough & Sons of Llandrindod Wells, this is what happened to it, went on fire on the A470 going over Brecon Beacons. Driver Verney Davies must have hopped out of the cab a bit quick, a sad end to a once proud moter.
Another view of the burnt out ERF.
Rare sight in C W Griffiths yard, this Foden artic was bought new, but they didn’t keep it long, it was sold to Ross Roadways of Whitchurch near Ross on Wye.
Another pic of the Foden artic, lined up with the rest of the fleet in the eighties.

Of these companies I posted back a few months ago. I have posted pics of nine of them on this thread, if anyone has anymore feel free to post them on here.
This was one of the vintage lorries that Paul bought, they never run a Foden of this type, only the newer models. But it still looks smart in their livery.

Did this s20 have a two stroke engine dave? I think this might be owned by John Pearson of Coventry now, he said he had a s20 with c w griffiths on the cab.
Have you come across anybody with photos of Woolleys Tankers yet Dave?
