Hi Pete , do you remember Hills from Pontesbury nr Shrewsbury , coal tippers in a blue/black colour scheme and mostly Guys , but finished up running bedford TMs ? regards Keith .
Evening all,
Gentlemen, what memories you bring back!..Wrekin Roadways…
Wrekin Roadways…oh, chagrin!..a deal done by my cousin saw me dispatched with our “new”, (ex some scurilous Scottish operator), heavy hauler, ( good grief someone had enjoyed the best years from this S20 cab, Gardner 150hp, Foden 12 speed, underdrive, 6x4), to purchase from David James a , (totally worn out), Dyson 4 in line low loader, that together with said Foden made a rather patina drenched worn out heavy hauler outfit…as we needed such a combination to carry a Shropshire based optomists newly acquired RB dragline from job to job…and having done only one days work with this “evil” combination I informed my dear Uncle and Aunt that , truly, I was not the man to drive this pedigree outfit…I prefered France in a 4 wheeled 4LK Gardner version of Mr Fodens finest…not this vibrating, grunting, squeaking, 29mph velocipede…(untill one came to a steep hill…then you jacked the bugger up, and turned down the rear hub diffs, and away you went)…12 gears up to 15 mph…you could climb a cliff…But not for me…but I do confess a fascination at seeing the rear bogie leaving black rubber lines from its tyres as it easily climbed a 1 in 4 gradient in lo reduction first…but then my enthusiasm was tempered…when I ran out of any sign of retardation at 10mph one dark night in down town Wrexham…Not a happy experience at all…particularly as my gross weight easily exceeded twice the legal limit at that time.
No wonder I lost my hair young.
Cheerio for now.

Hi Pete , Burgoynes had their own farm just outside Lyonshall and all the buildings were painted green the same as those on the lorries .
Regarding Sharples the Foden FCJ was sold to Clarence Griffiths as a preservation project , but never knew they had that ERF ! regards Keith ,
