Its a credit to the timber hauliers,as to how they keep their wagons looking so good, after working in these conditions.

Dave , i can remember talking to Gordie Underhill years ago and i am sure he told me a story of an incident on the Beacons when he hit a wild horse which ended up in the cab with him , thinkthat could have been the Merc again . Keith .Take a bit to shake Big G up Keith, he finished up driving for Les Price of Ivington. It used to be carnage over the Beacons in the 1960’s,half those drivers on nights used to run over sheep for the fun of it, cruel sods.
When I was going down early mornings for slag from Port Talbot I would very often count up to twenty dead sheep between Libanus and Penderyn.
Cheers Dave.
Good morning Keith, the accident with the Wild Horse was with a Atkinson I believe. The Merc they had met its end in Three ■■■■■ on a Saturday afternoon when it demolished a row of garden walls Brecon side of the filling station.
Cheers Jack.

hiya,
Taught myself to be an artic driver on one of these a tractor unit variation
with the Scammell coupling, had been driving an Octopus and drag the day
previously so I think I “qualified” myself in about half an hour and set off
for London the same day, little bit less money though, the eight wheeler
and trailer being the top rate in those days but the regular driver had come
back after a period on the sick and they only had the one so I got demoted.
thanks harry, long retired.
those picutures R A B are really good , they must be a very old firm. I rem them bring tractors back. one of my mates son s Martin drives a scania for them always clean.
