Dave , i can remember talking to Gordie Underhill years ago and i am sure he told me a story of an incident on the Beacons when he hit a wild horse which ended up in the cab with him , thinkthat could have been the Merc again . Keith .

Take a bit to shake Big G up Keith, he finished up driving for Les Price of Ivington. It used to be carnage over the Beacons in the 1960’s,half those drivers on nights used to run over sheep for the fun of it, cruel sods.
When I was going down early mornings for slag from Port Talbot I would very often count up to twenty dead sheep between Libanus and Penderyn.
Cheers Dave.

Good morning Keith, the accident with the Wild Horse was with a Atkinson I believe. The Merc they had met its end in Three ■■■■■ on a Saturday afternoon when it demolished a row of garden walls Brecon side of the filling station.
Cheers Jack.

Hi Jacko . Yes i can remember the incident at Three ■■■■■ , but did not know it was a Morfa wagon . I can however another accident there involving Oliver Hart from Coppell when a Seddon artic overturned and was towed to Eardisley by Burgoynes . regards Keith

Good evening Keith.Yes I was there doing the recovery work with Burgoynes AEC Matador,Dave Boswell from Wormelow was also there with his I think Diamond T wrecker. The driver of the Seddon had parked in the layby opposite and the hand brake released itself somehow and it rolled across the road and into the garden. Regards Jack.

Hi Jacko, thanks for that , what happened to Burgoynes Foden wrecker the one with the S21 Tropical cab ? The last time i saw it , it ws retrieving i think a Mead and Webber truck , you know from the former abbatoir on the Almelay road ?Happy days Keith

A few from the Beacon’s Keith.

Nice views, Dave. Pity you weren’t there with the cameraperson when a couple of us came over there sheep-scaring on a Fireblade and a GSXR!
And the shots of R&B’s fleet are fantastic.

If some of the sheep had crossed the road at the last minute Casey, you and your mates on those bikes would have had skid-marks in your underpants. :unamused:  Plenty of bikes over there on a Sunday.
Cheers Dave.

I was trying to work out where that was Keith. As you say it must be Lyde, but I couldn’t think what a Leyland would be doing there. Vincent Greenhouse were Bedford dealers. Were they also Leyland dealers ? I have been there enough of times, but forget.
Cheers Dave.

Yes I’ve been to both of their premises Keith. S W Brisbane always had Carmichael bodies on their tippers, and Clarence Griffiths had his new Leyland’s off Watts. I only remember Bedford lorries and coaches at Lyde.
Cheers Dave.
