A wet road and a bit of spray would customize it to Harry’s liking Casey.
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
Yes Dave, and if I had a bob for every mile I’ve “punched one”
I’d be able to afford a canny cruise.
thanks harry, long retired.

It still looks a proper lorry Harry. I always liked seeing the eight legger flatbeds when I was a kid.
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
Dave these old “Poppers” as I nicknamed them were when coupled to a drawbar
the longest and heaviest load carriers for a long period of time on the general
haulage side not a bad claim to fame for a fresh faced “boy” of twenty one who
did his first day driving one of these out of the mine on Friday down the road
with a “Popper” and drag on nights on my first day the following Monday, and I
couldn’t rope and sheet but my trailer “boy” a much older guy was an expert and
I quickly learned how to go on, he must have trained me well cos’ I never lost a
load in all my years on the road.
thanks harry, long retired.

You couldn’t get that sort of grounding into lorry driving these days Harry. Even in my in my day a few years later the old hands passed on the tricks of the trade, also I had the advantage of riding shotgun with my Dad on lorries from a young age.
Te kids wouldn’t be allowed nowadays because of all the rules and regs, that’s if they were interested in the first place.
Cheers Dave.
