Welsh Border and Mid Wales Hauliers 1950's onwards

This Albion looked good, even though I didn’t like driving LAD cabbed vehicles.

Probably the only one besides pursy’s from the Welsh Border area at the meet.

hiya,
Dave I quite liked the LAD cabbed jobs and have driven various Leylands and Albions,
I did long distance with them and found the cab perfectly adequate for me, I’ll dare
bet they was impossible to sleep in though, although I did see the odd one with the
curtains (Daily Mirror) covering the windows in the wee small hours when I left the
digs to start my shift fully refreshed after a proper nights kip,
thanks harry, long retired

Although I drove mostly Albions, I liked the Dodge variant best- more bits of chrome and TWO heater motors!. Proper lorry to a young sprog.

hiya,
Loads of chrome Eh’ ROF bit of a poser was you,■■ got to admit the Dodge did look
a bit flasher have had Dodges but never a LAD cabbed one.

My mate had an LAD Dodge which I coveted so much I used to do the odd job for free!
But yes, I did like a bit of bling- my S-type Bedford was lit up like a Christmas tree as soon as it got dark and I even put a second-hand valve radio in it which could just about be heard due to mounting it on the rear cab wall next to my ear!

I had a Dansette radio which I carried in a BMC FHK 140.I had to buy a new battery for it about twice a week, because I had to have the thing flat out to hear it.
Cheers Dave.
