Welsh Border and Mid Wales Hauliers 1950's onwards

Hi Dave. The ERF belongs to/still does I think Gordon Chadwick from Sandbach he used to run a commercial repair workshop next to our yard in Elworth early 2000s.In fact the yard belonged to his father who ran a fleet of lorries for years,I think his father closed down his haulage business around 2005/6, both nice lads to get along with.
By the way Dave cracking pics you have added, its nice to see a mix of past & present, also ones that have not been shown on here before (well done mate)

That one probably travelled as far as anything at the meet John. Thanks for the info.
Cheers Dave.

This is another one he has,all kitted out in the box for living in at rallies.I think he may have sold this one on (not sure though)

Cheers Dave.

Nearside view of the Clydesdale.

Scammell wrecker didn’t have far to come.

This Morris Commercial came prepared to keep the fire going :exclamation:

Nice Leyland Octopus, seen at the Hollies.

My camera person wanted to delete this pic,as she had to move whilst taking it,but I kept it.

Trev H and myself had a chat about this one.We thought that it wasn’t a TS3 as it wasn’t as big as a Maxiload and had eight stud wheels. The driver wasn’t in the unit when we looked at it.Possibly a Perkins 6354.

The Commer from the rear.

Hi Dave,
It was a TS 3 engine in it, just never seen one on 8 stud hubs, looked like it had a Scammell coupling on it at some time.

Hi Trev,
It did cross my mind that part of it was lying on its side,so I stand corrected. From my vantage point I couldn’t really see.
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
Bet it was a right pill in the wet having to be solo, no automatic coupler, no weight
on the drive axle must have had a scammell coupling at one time.
thanks harry, long retired.

Don’t tell anyone from ■■■■■■■ but I reckon that could be the back half of an 8-pot sticking out the back of the cab!

A fixed head Leyland Buffalo and a Daf 45 at the meet.

The same two from the back

Mark Purslow’s 1954 Peterbilt.

pursy’s Peterbilt just as immaculate under the bonnet.

Mark has put a lot of effort in keeping it clean.
