Welsh Border and Mid Wales Hauliers 1950's onwards

A smart looking D series Ford unit with a custom cab.

This Ford has won a few prizes,so it gets two pics.

A Volvo F12 with no bling.

Local ( to me ) from Kington Shaun Layton’s immaculate Ford Transcontinental.

Another two from this area.Steve Weaver and his son brought these two to the show.

Steve Weaver’s recently restored Scania 113.

The fourth from this way.John Weaver’s Dodge 300 series which won 1st prize in the show last year.

A mural on the back of one of the motors.

Not so many from R C Jeffrey & Sons this year.Nice AEC Mammoth Major.

Hi Dave

I’ve put a few of my lads pics in the Transport Photo forum - it spreads them all around a bit and saves doubling up…

Two we saw before,taken again.

Can’t recall seeing many of these at the show.

A Scania 4 series gleaming.

The guy with this V8 Merc with a 630 bhp engine was revving it up a few times during the day.

Can’t miss this one on the road.

Piston broke:

No problem Paul.It gives everyone a chance to catch them if they are spread over a few threads.
Cheers Dave.

Another fine looking Scania 143.

Dave the Renegade:

Another fine looking Scania 143.

Hi Dave, this is Dai Echos superb143 which Andrew mentioned took first place at the show. I am not sure if there is different classes or not, fleet/working etc.
Dai and his family are from Caerphilly, and all pitch in to keep this motor immaculate.
As it happens I saw it last year at the show in Swansea.
Well done the Connor family.

Regards Paul.

hiya,
The Leyland commercial vehicle museum is a must if in the area,
there’s an old Aki belonging to W H Bowker in there, this was never
my motor but when the regular (driver who was London based and
worked for MAT) was off sick I drove this motor for a week London
to S,Wales tip/load return every day, it only had the 180 Gardner
but ran sweet as a nut and in the words of 240 Gardner is still the
same, when the driver retired (he’s now deceased) he was gifted
the motor and went home from Blackburn to London with it,
although there are many pics of it on here I thought Graham might
have taken a photo of it when he was there but then it may have
been out at a rally or a road run as I said it is in mint condition and
gets a frequent airing.
thanks harry, long retired

Here you are Harry - especially for you!
