dave
which is the best route from knighton ( Kington ) quarry to the m1 north bound regards jeh

Hi jeh,
I would say go through to Leominster on the A44,then follow the A49 north towards Ludlow and pick up the A456 at Woofferton signed Kidderminster and go beyond Kidderminster pick up the signs for the M5/M42 and so on.Alternately go on the A44 through to Worcester and pick up the M5.
Cheers Dave.

Which route did you use jeh ?
Cheers Dave.

it was for a fellow driver he used the 444 as it was easier to get on to the m42 thanks for your help will call again if we need help
regards jeh.

Come on Dave, you drove one of these! It is an FHK, note the hole for the starting handle below the grill plus the two man passenger seat.

My friends son was on that run, usually with a Dodge LAD in Matlock Transport livery and/or a Dodge K series artic in B.J.Waters colours.

Pete.

There was a two man passenger seat in the one I drove Pete.Maybe I’ve been calling it the wrong model all these years. The one I drove had the underslung 5.7 engine in.
I did see a B J Waters lorry. Will post it if we got it on the camera.
Cheers Dave.

The FH had the underslung engine and twin seat Dave so you drove one for sure! The starting handle hole is the only real giveaway externally, the FFK had it in the grill itself whereas the FH 's was as the photo, below the grill. Incidently when I used to go from Gore up to the M5 etc I went via Shobden to Wooferton, is that route still available for HGV’s?

Still available Pete, but as I was giving directions to someone outside the area,I sent them the Leominster route.
The route through Shobdon these days is busy with a lot of LGV traffic running into Kingspan on Shobdon airfield.
With a lorry its about as quick to go around Leominster, several of the quarry wagons go that way these days.
Cheers Dave.

One of the oldest in the Heart of Wales run. This Albion looked good.

hiya,
Did for a short time drive a little Dodge with this cab I just wonder
did the same thing happen to this chap as happened to me when I
returned to the motor one morning some nice person had nicked the
D O G off the front I suppose it will still be decorating some mutts
stately pile, got a right bollocking off the Guvnor, he shut up when I
grabbed him by the throat, well I had had a bad day, Dave he didn’t
give me the push which surprised me, in fact he bought me a brand
new Atki Borderer well he had to give it to me I was the only driver
he had with the class 1 HGV.
thanks harry, long retired.
