hiya,
Did a “dead steam loco” from Newton Heath to Barry in one like this,
was it slow it was a one off and was I glad, the guvnor at the yard who
I was doing a favour for “on my holidays” asked me if I wanted a fulltime
job, I declined in a polite manner, is this one a six wheeler Dave?? the one
I used was an ex tank transporter or recovery vehicle, certainly an ex-army
job but had been modified and well used prior to my stint with it.
thanks harry, long retired.

Just downsized the pic and had a look Harry. It’s a four wheeler. C M Philpotts who I last drove for had an old Scammell similar to that one as breakdown wagon,it had a gate change.I only drove it a couple of times.Interesting to drive with character.
Cheers Dave.

This one was bodied in the the time after the demise of marsden vanplan and before Unique van bodies was formed so they only really had the choice of Vancraft or Sparshatts. Vancraft produced several bodies for them in this time.

You are right, Rob is part owner of Unique van bodies. Terry Sinnott who used to be with Marsden Vanplan now runs Unique alongside Rob
