Another one that was familiar to me,not sure if this one has the under-slung engine
I drove one of those for Ameys, It was the worse lorry I have ever had the misfortune to drive, and I have driven some rubbish in my time.
It was noisy, it wouldnât stop, that wasnât a big problem, as it wouldnât go to well either
it was cold it stunck of engine fumes, it wasnât even old it was just basically a heap of junk. I went from that to a new Lad cabbed Albion, I thought that was the bogs dollocks at the time, but looking back now the only good thing about it was it was new.
Hi John,
I drove one for about eight months for S W Brisbane of Knighton,it had the under-slung 5.7 litre engine,in those days it would out pull the Leyland 400,it was a flyer with a two speed axle, but the plating law finished those. They had to be down weighted.
Cheers Dave.
The one I drove had the hump in the cab, no 2 speed I had enough carpets and blankets over the bonnet to kit out a 4 bedrooms house, but the noise was still terrible.
cheers
John.
The under-slung had a flat floor John, with a double passenger seat and a grab handle for them.Handy to dry or hang your coat on
.
Cheers Dave.

Hansons had a gravel pit/concrete plant at Ashchurch, on the Bredon Road. That TK with the Leyland Engine was Editorsâ choice last year; Itâs a great lorry but not the one Iâd chooseâŚ
To be fair to the TK in Itâs day it was comfortable lorry, If you compaired it with crap lik the BMC range or Traders that kind of thing. I drove a few with the Bedford engine in, they were a bit prone to head gasket trouble, but nice to drive. the last one I had was a 6 legger with a Leyland in it, I was the envy of all my mates they all wanted one.

hiya,
We had a few BMCs on the BRS there was at least one in dock every week with a blown engine when they got to the grand old age of 12 months, horrible things,I hated getting lumbered with them it was only occasionally thankfully.

Not as old as the one legion posted. But these are a rare sight these days. Bulmers at Hereford used to have several of these Scammell Scarabâs running around a few years ago.

hiya,
Love a bit of a âcabbieâ in the LBC legger Dave preferably pulling a drawbar think i could still drive it, climbing in the shed would cause the problem, just might be a crane knocking about.
thanks harry long retired.
