Not as old as the one legion posted. But these are a rare sight these days. Bulmers at Hereford used to have several of these Scammell Scarab’s running around a few years ago.

Will have to think who is in Eardisland Andrew, would it be one of the brothers that drove out of Leinthall quarry a few years ago ?
Cheers Dave.

Afraid I don’t know him Andrew, only one at A&D I knew was Bob Wentworth who used to drive their lorry, lived at the top of Lawton, just down the lane on the left.

One for Chris Webb to have a cut in
Just a bit early for me Dave, although AEC MK3s were about the same time and I drove many a one of them. That’s a 6-potter 3600 gall spirit tank, more than likely.Nice,I wonder if it’s all original Esso,it does have a London reg like all their own transport had.

Wouldn’t know Chris, last year when the weather was good on the Sunday we went to that show,we could stop and read a bit about the lorries. This year,as it was wet on the Sunday that we attended,it wasn’t possible.
Cheers Dave.
I drove one of these AEC Matadors occasionally when I worked for S W Brisbane,it was a nice thing to drive, some of the older blokes found it hard to steer,me being young a dull thought it was great .
A lot of these lorries like this Volvo F7 have a living compartment on the back for these shows.A good idea, especially with poor weather like last weekend.

Thats it Harry, several Forestry and Timber merchants in this area had them. The one on Brisbane’s came off B & J Davies of Bucknell.Brisbane’s used it as a breakdown wagon. It was a good old motor witth a good winch for recovery work.
Cheers Dave.
