Dave, are you familiar with Pertons’ of Hereford? I saw a brown (X reg I think) Volvo 8wheeler of theirs at Bardons’ pit at Kempford earlier. I’ve never heard of them…

There is a small quarry just outside of Hereford on the Ledbury road which is called Perton Quarry.
It is owned by Elliott & Sons Ltd from Bishops Cleeve,near Cheltenham.They run tippers.

That sounds right, I saw several Elliott tippers in Kempsford yesterday and the Perton lorry was certainly in their shade of brown :smiley: I wonder why they don’t use their own name, did they take over somebody?

Perton is the name of the quarry Nathan.Its always been called that,they bought it about three years ago,it used to be crap stone in there,don’t know if they have got into better stuff now.

That seems to be the in thing these days Harry.I have had a couple of driving lamps on most of my vehicles,but I wouldn’t be putting eight on,as some of these chap’s have.

If you had 8 of them lights on the Merc Dave you would stop the engine if you switched them all on at once! throw the fanbelt off at least!! Cheers Dennis.
