Welsh Border and Mid Wales Hauliers 1950's onwards

A proper lorry,up against a modern one, just shows how times and size has changed over the years.

Another older Scania.

Well worthy of a pic on its own.

Another pair of Swedes.

A row of Scania’s.

Got some daughters by the looks of it.

Another Swedish machine.

A couple of blinged up motors.

Re’ Gaydon Dave, do you agree with the age restriction on the trucks?

Yes I do Nathan, its a classic and heritage commercial show. There are plenty of other shows for the newer stuff.I really enjoyed it last year. There are newer motors there, such as Andrew and his mates with the Steelboys run, consisting of about 50 lorries, also a lot of new stuff in the park with low loaders that have brought the older one’s there.
Cheers Dave.

I suppose it depends on what you deem “classic”, Dave. Classic to me could be as recent as 10 or 15 years old but I like to see stuff like O Types, Mickey Mouse Fodens etc. I’m sort’ve stuck; I find Truckfest overrated

Hi Nathan,
The newest at Gaydon is 25 years old, except for some of the Steelboys wagons.Plenty of the type of lorries you mention.enjoy any lorry shows, but particularly Gaydon,as their is quite a lot of lorries from my Dads driving days and mine.
Cheers Dave.

A pair of 143’s.

A couple of the newer Scania’s.

The only older Daf that I saw at the show, unless I missed them.

T ALUN JONES vehicles always stand out wherever you see them.

Dave, are you familiar with Pertons’ of Hereford? I saw a brown (X reg I think) Volvo 8wheeler of theirs at Bardons’ pit at Kempford earlier. I’ve never heard of them…

There is a small quarry just outside of Hereford on the Ledbury road which is called Perton Quarry.
It is owned by Elliott & Sons Ltd from Bishops Cleeve, near Cheltenham. They run tippers.
Cheers Dave.

Timber Scania.

A couple of lorries from Radnorshire.
