If I had a pound for every time I’ve sat under that belt Dave, or had a night out there ready to load next morning, I would be a rich man. I always found tower a good place to load out of, never got messed about and a good bunch of lads.
cheers
John.

Hi John,
Never been in the colliery, but been by their loads of times up over the Rhigo’s mountain to Treherbert, and down the Rhonda Valley.
Cheers Dave.
I still go over the Rhigos mountain road once or twice a week to the Everest factory at Treherbert. its been a bit dodgy the last few weeks with ice and snow.

I bet it has Trev, especially down past those old workings on the Hill going down to Treherbert. Is the little weighbridge type hut still on the side of the road with a lot of religeous stuff written all over it,still there.
Cheers Dave.
Yeh,
Thats still there Dave, there was an old guy living there for a while but I think he’s been moved on. There’s quite a few timber lorries coming out of the forest up there just lately, its a bit hairy sometimes meeting them on the hairpin bends on ice!

I can well imagine that Trev.A lot of forestry on the tops around that area, those blokes don’t hang around as a rule. Not nice on ice.I don’t envy you at all.
Cheers Dave.
Another look at one of A E Gough’s ERF’s.

Probably Nathan.I can see its a Cat,but thats about as far as it goes with me.I don’t get that close to loading shovels very often these days, although my next door neighbour drives one for Tarmac at the Strinds/Dolyhir quarries.
Cheers Dave.
I drove one a little bit newer and a bit bigger, Dave (N reg) CAT 970F, a bit like this one
And I had a cab like this, but you took your boots off to drive it, and there was polish everywhere
new CAT 966 arrived in Minffordd quarry few weeks ago
