jonmea:
Good news that Dave is getting better.
few pics of G F Potter from Welshpool
I would imagine these were taken at Welshpool showground Merfyn.
Cheers Dave.
yes Dave welshpool showground. Few years back now. the n reg scania 143 was new in those pics.
I thought by the sloping ground and the big tree’s in the background that it was Welshpool Merfyn.Potters have always had a smart fleet of vehicles.
Cheers Dave.
Looking at the Wolseley/Builder Center DAF, I’ve noticed that company liveries seem to get worse as they evolve. Ie; look back to the days of Hall & Co and then the original red Builder Center Livery. Same could be said of Hansons (always preferred ARC colours, and Hanson blue to “Heidelburg White”. Dare I mention Smiths current livery, compared to the pre '95 colours?

Most of the current colours with firms revolve around white.I think its all down to cost, white is the factory colour, then stick some vinyls on,and they leave it at that. The vehicles seem to lack the character of the signwritten lorries of a few years back.
Cheers Dave.

I bought a new wagon in 1989 Dave and having studied the colour chart I opted for blue but when it arrived it was white so that was the colour from then on but at that time it was a bit unusual and I had plenty of signwriting on it. No stickers allowed.

White was a bit more unusual then David, but it’s quite a common colour now.As you say if they are signwritten,it looks a lot better. At least the vinyls these days tend to stay on betteer than years ago. There was nothing worse than seeing a vehicle with lettering missing.
Cheers Dave.

When do the quarries near you close down for Christmas Dave? We finish today (I think last loading at 2pm, so get a move on! )
A bit of confusion this way Nathan, they were supposed to be open until 11am tomorrow, but with the heavy snow there are hardly any lorries in them today. Was talking to a mate of mine about 1pm today,he was the only lorry at the Gore.
Cheers Dave.
