You presume right Malc, hows things up your way,we have about a foot of lying snow on the fields here.
Cheers Dave.

Well Dave, a couple of those photos would make nice scenes on a christmas card, but it defenitely looks cold. Hope your recovery is a speedy one, and a happy christmas to you and Tracey.

Hi Dave,
O.K. here only a couple of inches last night,we are lucky the heat
from Heysham power station blows 20 miles inland and keeps us warm!.

Cheers Malc.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for that. A happy christmas to you and your family. We were’t supposed to be having as much snow as this according to last nights forecast, but it just goes to show that nature has a mind of its own.We have had much more in years gone by.Healthwise I’m getting better each day, just got to be sensible and stay in the warm.Got to admit I do like a drive in the snow, but my Transit is being refurbished and I would need refurbishing if I went out in this, after Tracy had finished with me  .
Cheers Dave.

Hello Dave and Tracy ,hope you are better Dave and this cheers you up

Hi Chepstowchap,
Good picture of the pig,my mate drove that Foden after it was converted to a tipper, for Alan Duckett,he thought the world of it,thats my mate not Alan,he reckoned you never had a problem getting anywhere with it,as it was low geared.
Cheers Dave.

Smiths had some of those for a short time; they were unstable when loaded and the cabs would lift when braking and accelerating. They sent them back and were converted into mixers…

As I said in a previous post Nathan,my mate thought the world of that lorry which was converted to a tipper,it had a 180 Gardner and would go up the side of a house, not very fast, but a good reliable lorry with a good payload.
Cheers Dave.

I’ve never heard of anyone else having problems with them either Dave; I gather the 3 offending vehicles ended up down Gloucestershire area. Their earlier versions were never any problems, my uncle had one of the dodgy motors and says the Guy J6 he had before it was a better vehicle-controversial statement to make on here!

Hi Rich,
Great pics of the Dodges, have driven a Dodge Kew like those with a Perkins 6354.Philpotts of Kington who I last drove for had one as a spare lorry. They went well with a two speed axle, better than the K series Dodge I drove on Brisbanes of Knighton.
Drivers as dedicated as Bert Pugh would be very rare these days.I remember some of the old blokes when I started that treated the lorry as if it was their own.I remember one driver getting up on the tracks of a Traxcavator and offering the driver out,as he had touched the body of the lorry with the bucket,he wasn’t a young man,but he was deadly serious.
Cheers Dave.

I’ve worked with blokes like that Dave; I once dribbled water down the side of one our 3000 series 6 wheelers when I drove a shovel-driver gave me the evil eye for several days afterwards…that stopped when he hit some powerlines near Bicester and subsequently burned up 2 cars at a 2nd hand car dealers in the process!

Thats right Nathan,at the end of the day,we are all human and mistakes happen. The main thing is that no one gets hurt, thats the most important thing in my book.
Cheers Dave.
