Same here John, wouldn’t have thought they were built strong enough for a lot of weight, don’t really know what this one was used for even allowing for the fact that it probably grossed at 24 ton max.
Cheers Dave.

Hi John,
I think someone said it had a Leyland 400 in it,when I posted it a couple of months back.
Cheers Dave.

Hi Chris,
Haven’t a clue.I followed the other one with the walking floor which was being pulled by a Scania, for a good 20 miles, didn’t take much notice of the trailer on Setton’s,just noticed the IXL logo.
Cheers Dave.
Hi Dave, real good pics lately mate,Harry asked who originally owned the 8 wheel TK?
Well here she is in 1972 at Scotch Corner (any idea where that is Harry
)only teasing mate
Dunno if Dews were the first owners though.
The shot was taken by my old pal Pete Davies so all credit to him for this great pic.
Cheers Bubbs,
Hi Dave, sorry to hi jack the thread for a minute, found another pic of the 8 wheel TK…This is probably the first owner of it…Harry will know this company,he may have even driven for them

Blimey she looks well abused there Bubbs.
G’day fellas,
great to see the different firms that have run the 8X4 TK over the years, I’ve seen the black and white Peter Davies pics many times, but the penny never dropped that it was the same one that’s still around today.
The TK 8X4 conversion was not uncomman over here, but they were never in great numbers. This one was for sale this year as the bloke had up graded to a Foden. I’m not sure is it sold, but I’ll try and find out. I think it was in Classic and Vintage Commercials this year too. Who knows it may have sold to a UK buyer, there are quite a few ex-NZ trucks turning up in the UK now.

Cheers Bubbs,
hiya,
When i got the first glimpse of this old girl my screen was tilted back and the paintwork looked darker than it really is and i thought of Young’s of Leadgate and i did do a bit for them in 72/73 but when i straightened things up spotted the name on the body and realized it was a company i had’nt graced, “who said luckily for them”, but Marc i still think i could still find my way to Scotch Corner and without satnav too might even get past Durham without stopping.
