I don’t think this is the drivers fault, there is no wayon earth that trailer would get that far without dropping sooner.

We had it at Co-op once, there was a 35ft trailer that was dropped on it’s knees going to the trailer park, shunter got disciplined for it, a week later a driver did the same thing with the same trailer, except it was on a exit slip road 90 miles from the yard, luckily no one was hurt, Police investigation found that there was an issue with the king pin.

Hope shunter driver got his disciplinary removed.

You can move trailers without the jaws going fully home, I had to get a trailer of a piece of rough ground at the beck off our yard a week or so ago, because of the angle off the rubbing plate to the 5th wheel the jaws wouldnt go fully home, the trailer was empty and I was able to drag it onto flat ground and recouple. Its not the 1st time I’ve done that either, so it is possible.

Me too week before, tried picking trailer up, I go under low, then when the 5th wheel is fully under the trailer, I raise my suspension to get legs off the deck and then reverse the rest of the way under.
Anyway, it sounded ok, but when I went to put the clip on, the bar wasn’t ‘home’, wouldn’t release either, so had to drag it onto level ground, then it’d release, and then re-connect.
I got some lads in the yard to help me, mainly because I didn’t want it coming off whilst I was moving it, so they could keep an eye on that whilst I was in the drivers seat.

What a shame. Although most of your posts seem to be the same so just copy and paste and old one would be my advice…
