weekend away pay.when on weekly rest

going to have to take my 45 hr rest in davenport from friday as im loading batteries off one of the uk navys subs thats in for mantiance work.
was wondering what u guys get or ask for while away from home and base.ill be payed for my nights out.was thinking of asking for around £120 to cover the 2 days ill down there tax free of course before leaving tomorrow.

95 a day plus night out for us in those circumstances

those on trip money would be [zb]ed.
those on hourly rate would usually get 12 hours per day, plus the usual night out money.
last time i was on day rate and taking time off away from home, i’d get £70 plus the usual night out rate.

Nothing, your not working,

he’s doing truck security for the boss.
fair doos, he’ll probably be ■■■■■■■

I’ve always got a normal day’s pay and night-out money and if I expected someone to be weekended then that’s what I would pay him/her.

one of our other guys was weekend out in westbury to do a wideload out of there a few months back they gave him about the same. so im going to ask for the same plus a early finish asap on friday as i have to make 56 hours up next weekend.will be running sunday to strood park up drop trl in morning pick up one for manchester yard or maybe scotland run fingers crossed.
just found out that my mums god daughter lives in plymouth area plus her hubby works on the base aswell something to do with fire station there so maybe ill be able to stay with them aswell.

What a farce,to qualify for 45 hour rest you should be no where near your truck .

Why? i’ve got everything in my truck to live in it for long periods quite happly, the only difficult thing is clothes washing.

I think that what Fuse is pointing out is that you cannot legally take a 45 hour rest away from base, only reduced rests can be taken away from base.

Correct Harry, to be fair every minute spent in that truck should be paid for,I know in the real world this will not happen but it should

Does anybody have any evidence of this being enforced yet ■■

I was chatting to a Dutch traffic bod the other week about it, as it happens occasionally to me on a long one. His version was along the lines of “if you’re on a genuinely long trip which would return you to base but not before you needed said 45 then they would not bat an eyelid. If you were cab living and never went home then it may be looked at” at which point he winked and nodded toward a bunch of east european trucks parked up

Saaamon:
but do you really want to chat to a full of [zb] british licence holder?

No, not if he drives a white Scania with blue stripes and the name of a mis spelled fish on a number plate in the windscreen :open_mouth:

To answer the OP, if you’re required to spend the weekend away, then you should be paid for it, as it is a weekend you should get the usual pay rates for those days, so if you get overtime rates for driving sat/Sun, you should get overtime rates for sitting still. If the company have priced the job properly all that should be worked into the rate, if they haven’t, well maybe that ain’t such a good job after all

of course you can take a 45 away from base but not legaly in the truck.
pitch a tent at side of it and its legal, hotel and its legal  stay with relatives etc or spend 45hrs in pub

thats new to me but why dont vosa pull on this look for hotel reciepts or proof u werent in the truck i know it would be hard to prove but its a wonder they dont try

This is the best reason for reading your employment contract before you sign it :stuck_out_tongue:

Some companies pay for weekends, some pay a reasonable subsistence and some pay a fixed salary

Used to spend upto 8 weeks away at a time always got paid a days wage and my night out money when parked up for my 45 hour rest

You should get paid for every day that you are at work, driving the truck or parked up(weekended) a company that i once worked for used to pay you fully if you were on a 24hr reduced rest usually whilst in France ect , but info from someone who still works for them they no longer do that,

They now only will pay night out money whilst parked up on weekly rest be it 24 or 45hrs , even though the truck being parked where it is ,is actually for their financial gain,

They IMO are wrong in not paying their drivers the normal pay one of several reasons why i wouldn’t go back there
