Tommy, sorry do hear that mate - yes, I was lucky, I realise that. But all we can do in life is make decisions on our previous experiences - yours was different to mine so we make different choices.
BTW, doesn’t the driving seat go up a ■■■■ of a long way when its tipping over

I never understood why those that wear seatbelts get so upset about those that don’t. Is it honestly about the fact we are somehow risking our life, or is it as I suspect the fact that some of the do gooders just can’t stand the thought of anyone breaking a law.
it doesn’t worry me if other people do or dont wear them , i have a friend that survived a car crash because he wasn’t wearing one , he was thrown out of the car & survived the other 3 wearing seatbelts died ,
very much as your life in your hands , at you own risk as the sign says
always worn one it was inbuilt into me as a child by my uncle he drummed it into for yrs and now i do it without thinking ( like wiping your arse when u had a dump ) its just a natural thing to do
also scanies had red belts for a while im convinced its so u could b seen from a car if u did/did not have it on
I’m one of the people who has a Medical Exemption, so I can’t wear one even if I want to - and believe me, when it’s windy I wish I could! I do find all this taking picture from cameras a worrying development, however, simply because I have to carry my certificate at all times, and therefore would have to take a day off work to present it in Court rather than just sending it in the post. I haven’t had any FPNs yet, but I suspect it’s a situation that will arise in the not to distant future, and can’t see why they don’t make a note on your licence records at DVLA to verify the exemption, rather than relying on a bit of cardboard designed in 1963. Presumably that would be too sensible…
i don’t wear one in the truck, or in a car.
never have, never will.
and anyway, kids might laugh, and call me a puff.
What a load of rubbish, how do you know that you would have been injured if you were wearing a seat belt.
What a stupid statement.

I can’t believe some of the posts written on this thread regarding the wearing of seat belts, WHY WHY WHY would you not wear a device which is designed to save your life.As for those SO CALLED drivers who don’t wear one they obviously have scant regard for their own safety and others around them, but i would like to hazard a guess that those who have posted saying that they have been driving for years without one still class themselves as PROFESSIONAL drivers. HA PROFESSIONL,idiots more like.Did you actually read my post?
Because, dimwit, I would have been stuck 8 feet in the air by a single strap around my waist. Now, I’m a big lad, and I think it’s safe to assume that it would have caused me injury - you try it sometime. Now run along and play with the buses - there’s a good lad…
I wear one and when it’s dark I don’t. I find them extremely irritating.
Common sense tells me to wear one,and most of the time I do, one of the main reasons being that it keeps you in the chair and gives you a chance of regaining control after the initial impact.
Or leaving the cab dukes of hazzard style.
Always wear my seatbelt. Knew someone years ago got run off the road by a car driver down a narrow back lane on a bend , they never stopped to see if the driver of the other vehicle was ok
…they wern’t , hit a tree & went through windscreen - glass in their eyes, multiple cuts & deep gashes all over face & head , loss of sight permenatly - never had a seat belt on .
Do you know what the most disturbing thing about the so called PROFESSIONAL drivers moaning about wearing seat belts is, if you have no regard for your own safety then i’m pretty sure they couldn’t give a stuff about the other road users around them and unfortunately that means me. I dread to think about the condition of vehicles they drive, i hope VOSA stop you everyday and fine you to the hilt for not wearing a seat belt.

Problem solved for you Lucy
A diagonal stripe of black duct tape on company uniform works equally well

Excellent!
I’ve always worn one.

I’m bored with you now - have a nice life, just don’t annoy me anymore please
Around 15 yrs ago i had a car crash which resulted in me being trapped in a burning car because of a seat belt,I was very lucky to get out alive… so how can a seat belt save your life at the same time as almost taking it
The lorry i drive does not have seat belts so i cant wear one
Wether wearing a seatbelt is a good or bad thing will always be a debateable issue , it would depend upon the cicumstances of the incident/accident at the time
, as to wether it was a good or bad idea to wear one
