The only thing I’d say to watch is not to park there with anything worth nicking, because sadly the same thieving arses that cover the rest of the A1 in that area have been known to frequent there late on. But then, Ferrybridge and Barnsdale Bar services have the same problem for 3 times the price (and the rest), so I know where I’d rather be.

Sorry to hear that was in there a few months ago did a nice bit of cake there and you had a nice view from the truck in their car park. Loved it when the RAF came tearing over! Use 'em or lose 'em lads!
Thanks for the comments people. With reference to access it can be awkward but you can drive round the back of the building and straight into the car park. We have had lots of good feedback in various different forums with reference to the quality and price of the food and the service. We will be trying to improve the facilities as we go along but that costs dough and we are trying our best.The plans are to get CCTV installed, I know this doesn’t stop thefts but if it puts one thief off then it’s worthwile, we are also looking to put a TV in so you guys can catch up on the news and when we start to make some real dough we are going to have the toilets upgraded and showers put in. The building has a alcohol licence as it was once a pub/nightclub and we are looking at the possibility of developing that at a later stage. We currently open 6am to 6pm Mon - Fri and 7am - 1pm Sat however some nights we don’t get out of there till 9pm as we won’t let drivers pull on for overnight parking (£4.00) and go hungry, while we’re talking about hungry let me tell you about the food,

What I would like is constructive comments and criticism. You are the guys that know what you want and I am happy to try my best to provide the service. If the few small cafes that are still around don’t get the support they will disappear and then it’ll be £20 for a brew and a butty on the services.

Like many north eastern and scottish drivers I have used this cafe in the past but no matter how good the welcome the main drawback will always be the access and egress.Until this problem is
resolved and speaking from experience the major problem seems to be on exiting as the slip road is almost non existent and given the amount of traffic that uses the A1 it is never going to be on top of my list of must try cafes. All that said I do wish the new owners well as good cafes that cater for our industry are few and far between.

its a shame. the food was good and i couldn’t fault the service but when i saw all the leeds utd posters i vowed never to return

I can never understand statements like that, good food, good service, but you wont return because of (possible rival) football posters■■?

I understand what you are saying about the exit road on to the A1 but to be honest I use it every day and it ain’t that bad especially if you are getting quality food at at least half the price in comparison with the motorway services, but like i say try us and make your own mind up.

There are 2 pictures on the wall on the right as you walk in that have only recently been put up. If any one can tell me by ringing my mobile 07872 510658 what the pictures are I will give the first person to ring a free All Day Breakfast (£4.70) the next time they come in, if they can tell me what they match in the cafe I will give them a free Special Breakfast (£5.95).
We have advertised in Truck Stop News and are just waiting for them to deliver us copies as a distributor so you guys ( and girls ) can get your free copies.
We are also looking to get Wifi installed and working out some way of drivers being able to access it when on overnight parking, comments and sugggestions on this would be appreciated.

I’me glad I started this thread, anyone who has the drivers interests at heart, deserves to have all the support they can get,
I will certainly be using the cafe when I can, so come on you truckers lets at least try to get an old style cafe, with modern ideas back on track.
I was suprised how quiet the truck park was because it was always nearly full when i used it regular years ago, the girl in the garage did tell me about the trucks being robbed but not very regular, oh and 1 hijacking but she hinted it was a pre planned 1, but i think if it was used more, the problem wouldnt be so bad, well not as bad as the laybys.
Recomended by me for 1.
i think the bird in the garage should keep her gob shut as she isnt doing much for business.
This is the first chance I have had to post a reply as we’ve been at the Cafe for the last week and only have access to the Internet when we come home on a Saturday night, but we’re looking to rectify that soon by having internet access installed at the cafe. The potholes at the entrance to the site have been filled in yesterday and we are having the building painted over the weekend. I’ll keep you informed of any improvements and look forward to seeing you all.

if you get wifi installed and you want the drivers to use it of a night time when the engineers install they can adjust your antenna for that but make sure you have some kind of password only available from the bar or cafe to stop the trailer/locker eaters from just parking and abusing the system
What i had thought about doing was offerring a WEP Key with a parking receipt and changing the WEP key daily, but keep up the comments I really do appreciate them and take everything on board.
