No, it’s a drive through wash with the roller brushes, like a giant car wash. Gets washed so often its a wonder there’s any paint left on it.

[emoji23][emoji23] goes in blue one day comes out primer grey.
“Hey boss got us a new truck only needs a top coat” [emoji39][emoji23]

I thought I seen the small orange on the right of the plate and I have a Florida plate on me bedroom wall. I think thats the coolest reg system. Each state has its own style. Have got one from Haiti one from Jamaica and the Florida one. Was goig to build a USA map with reg plates

Well, the depot has a truck wash on site. So at the start of every shift, I run through it after coupling up. As in every day. If I have to take a rigid out and then an artic I’ll go through it twice in a day.

Rather than because I like a shiny truck I do this as just part of my pre leaving the yard routine. After the truck was the screen will be clean. And the mirrors will be nice and wet. So I hop out when its doing the trailer and give the mirrors a good rub with the blue paper in the office until they are perfect. Then when it’s a green light I drive out of the truck wash. As my unit and trailer is perfectly straight I make sure my mirrors are bang on just as I like them.

All this takes me about 10 mins total. And I wouldn’t care in the slightest if anyone gave me a funny look. I do what works for me. And I find it an awful lot easier to see from my mirrors when they are perfectly clean. I even have a bottle of spray glass cleaner in my bag - but rarely is this needed. My reversing is a big dodgy at the best of times - but getting the unit and trailer straight is easier for me if the mirrors are set up as I like. More experienced drivers probably don’t need to do this.

As far as cleaning the inside - if it’s minging it stays that way. But after the truck wash on the way out there is a big bin we can lob stuff in. So I throw out any litter whilst adjusting my mirrors.

We had a couple of skips at our site, they were soon pulled away when drivers started arriving with household stuff, try explain a goodfellas pizza box or birdseye fishfingers [emoji23][emoji23]. Would like to have a pressure jet wash system on site but the neighbours played the " you cant have chemicals leaking into the yard" card. But yet theres 4 trucks off the road since I started a year ago.

They do have a pressure washer etc. But I don’t really use that. When I say truck wash I mean a huge thing you drive into with brushes on it that cleans the unit and the trailer. Like a car wash that has taken loads of steroids. Once it has passed the unit you can jump out and push your mirrors back out. And then climb up and clean them. It takes a few minutes to clean the trailer so you have time.

Unless its a very large yard I’d not think this was cost effective for your average business. You see them in supermarket DC’s a lot. It required zero effort to clean the truck. Most drivers still do not bother. To make it easy they position them in front of the fuel pumps - so you can drive straight into it. But again they do not bother.

I would not be getting myself soaked with a pressure washer either. Each to their own but I’m not paid enough to go through that.

no brian if its the orange sticker u see thats to do with running thru new york

In my new job I cover two drivers days off and there would be hell to pay if I left them dirty! They are always left clean for me so clean they are left for their regular drivers. I’ve always considered washing as part of a lorry drivers job so it’s no hardship as far as I’m concerned.

I think the same Luke, and by the way I only got subbed to your Youtube channel recently that blue Volvo you drove to Italy was stunning. A clean lorry=a happy driver.

I feel the same that cleaning a truck is part of the job but many in my place dont look at it that way they drive a truck but arent truck drivers.

The truck i have is washed everyday and gets 2 coats of slick mist every week. I’m get paid to clean it so its clean and shiny.

I’ll wash windows/mirrors after every shift but truck we have cleaned out by a crew twice a month inside and out.

Every 2 or 3 weeks when I’m back at the yard it gets a proper wash, alloys washed and shined up every few days if they need it and it gets a bucket wash once a week at least, followed by a polish once every few weeks, spray wax after every wash.

I was truck…

Driving when you were getting duffed up in the playground. I’m confident I’m a truck driver whether I wash the lorry or not.
