You seem unable to grasp a basic premise of these forums, attack the arguement, not the person making it, your last few posts have been very little to do with the topic, and more to do with trying to belittle other posters.
It appears to me you are doing exactly what you accuse others of doing, being totally blind and unaccepting that others have a different viewpoint…
Sorry. That was out of order on my part. heat of the moment and all that but still out of order…
Accepted.
Feel free to edit me if you think it needs editing
In your own forum? Wouldn’t dream of it, I have enough trouble controlling all those rowdies in the Oldies and Ex-Pats I only come in here 'cos everyone is so nice to each other .
Ooooppps….didn’t know the forum was only open 9-5…………hope the night security guard keeps quiet…………better slip him a fiva
Rikki….my man…………I’ve made my views on the Lady P’s post perfectly clear……for me that is it………but continuing to read……
The petty argument between (zb)……and the…….We Think for Ourselves Crowd………just once again showed us how…… (zb)……has a nasty habit of bring her personal “traumatic” …experiences…into discussions/arguments……(and blabbing on about it)…….and then slams down anyone whom……has the slightest different point of view……even when the conclusion agrees with hers……….
”its her way or no way”……
eerrrrmmm…….sure I heard someone else say that also….errrmmm…….
…………all this hidden be behind…………
”I’m only expressing my opinion……in a rational…valid way……”…………
YAWN!!!
(Note whenever I put up a post or argument….I don’t just rattle on about my personal experiences….things r given from a broad view……using obviously personal experiences…but also observations of other people…………which helps me…balance out my experiences…so I don’t end up narrow minded………hence why I always give fair judgement……….unless someone points out something valid I’ve missed)
Well as all u lot have been converted into (zb) little Dwarfs…….it’s only left to SuperSmiley Man………to save the world of reality……(not Disney)…………from….Miss Wannabe…….and point out to her……….she needs to get her head of the clouds………go jump on a couch…have a chatt……and learn some proper rational……that involves….other people……not just herself…………
Now I’ve spent too much time up ere in fairy wonderland…………got to get back to my own clan of…….”We Think for Ourselves Crowd”…………so I shall finish by saying this…………
If this situation to which Lady P found herself in……was to ever go to…crown or tribunal court………….I can guarantee u one thing for sure………….
Absolutely no judge……would allow or be able to allow……the information given in Lady P’s first post as being sufficient……for safe conviction……
It would be deemed as insufficient evidence……….sorry to say………but the same as in a ■■■■ case…………look how much detail they go into……….
There are three things I fail to understand here Super Smiley…perhaps you in your infinite wisdom could take 5 minutes out from your slagging session (which is coming across as very insecure, from where I’m sitting) and explain them to me:
How is learning from personal experience, allowing that experience to shape your views, and being prepared to share the reasons behind holding that views to others a problem, exactly? I was always brought up to believe that experience shapes who we are and defines us as people - broadens our horizons, in fact, which is the exact opposite of what you seem to be saying. The more you see of life the more you understand it, surely? Isn’t that what allows us to gain maturity?
What is wrong with forming a rational and valid argument backed up by the above mentioned experience, and posting it on a DISCUSSION thread in a DISCUSSION forum? Isn’t that the whole point of a discussion forum - to share different views, share the thinking behind them, and then debate the subject in an attempt to convert others to your own way of thinking?
Why do you find someone disagreeing with you - me, in this case - such a problem that the only way you can deal with it is to resort to playground insults without actually engaging with the issue at hand? And why are you so outraged that I haven’t just rolled over and said “Alright SS, you win, I won’t engage with you because you won’t like it”…Wouldn’t that be seriously boring?
I’m obviously missing something here, but whatever it is it’s really well hidden under all that vitreol…which is a shame, because there’s no way I can concede a point when I have no idea what, once the slagging is set aside, exactly that point is, and on what grounds it has been based…
I shall leave you to think about that one whilst I go back to the pub and enjoy the party.
We have an ethics policy which all staff sign, there are several female managers here and we all get along, there is no call for this behavoiur in the workplace.
Lady P you were 100% right, if somebody had done that to my wife she’d have killed them!!
I can’t believe these attitudes still exist. The sooner these dinosaurs wise up to the fact that it is 2008 and not 1968 the better.
We had a driver grab another by the throat last year and once it was all calm both were called in and the victim was given a day off, and the aggressor suspended for a week without pay.
It is never acceptable to grab/manhandle another employee regardless of what ■■■ they may be
Hey, I’m not gay or anything and I’m 5’ 11’’ and weight about 15 stone, but a big guy did that to me once. Pushed me forward when I wasn’t expecting and simulated ■■■ with my ■■■■. A swift donkey kick in the shin followed by quick spin and a crush of his nads did the trick. He could probably have started a fight and won. But he didn’t as he realized he was in the wrong.
Can you imagine what the transport manager would have thought of me if I’d gone complaining
Women;… It’s a mans industry, join it, don’t try and change it!!!
Didn’t you have any big ‘decent’ male colleges who could have put him straight first, as that does the trick also.
As I’ve said before there’s more than one way to skin a cat and I’d rather have a slap or slap down than loose my job.
Not that I try that sort of behavior.
That said if he wouldn’t pack it in he was out of order full stop.
Oh and before you start my wife was talking to friend and a bloke she worked with thought it would be a good laugh to walk up behind and put his ■■■■■ in her hand. Good job it was smaller than mine as it back fired on him!
Lucy and all the other posters on here who say that it was “■■■■■■ Harassment” are right totally on this one.
How “Smiley” would you like to be touched and felt by a homosexual person as I was many years ago when I was a fitter, as this guy chased me all around a very large workshop and vehicle parking area and only for the fact that he slipped on some oil I would have certainly been indoctrinated to ■■■ from the other side and believe me it is bloodywell frightening for someone like me who was just recently married at the time and in those days it was illegal to practice homsexuality.
This is the same “■■■■■■ Harassment” as if it was the opposite ■■■ so does that make it any different ?
Don,t give me this rubbish about that is different as it damnwell isn,t if you are the unwilling recipient of these kind of antics this lady did the right thing as far as I am concerned as banter and mickey taking are just fun but even that can be unasked for as when I started to take the mick out of a character who had made me the ■■■■ of his purile sense of humour he got very upset even to the point of threatening to “sort me out” till a shop steward got wind of what was going on and shall we say he had a quiet word in his shell and needless to say it stopped there and then.
As one post says would it be ok for your daughter or wife to be treated in this manner, if you say yes then you are as big a buffoon as the driver who got sacked as even banter can be misconstrued as ■■■■■■ harrassment if it is insulting or gratuitous to the recipient as maybe I am one of the few drivers who tries (not always successfully) not to swear in front of females.
If I found some toerag bending my wife over like that I would be teaching him the error of his ways down a dark alley some night!!!
Well technically … ■■■■■■ harassment, but I don’t think I’d ‘av’ gone crying to the boss 'cos I’m not a woman and guess what, nothing would have been done and even it had, I would have never have lived it down.
Stick up for yourself for fzb sake!!
What they gonna do beat you up in front of witnesses and loose their job??
I think not?
I am sure not every male driver who Lady P worked with was not her friend or someone who could put this guy in his place.
He doesn’t need the sack!!!
I am sick and tired of ‘shop you in’ merchants on this forum!!!
SORT IT OUT!!!
"I’ll get the boss involved, phone the police, 'tell sir, my dads bigger than your dad.
GROW UP!!!
We’re turning into a nation of soft [zb0
God help us if there’s another real war!!
Or maybe he did last time, couldn’t have those krouts ruling the world now could we !!■■
talking of things getting out of hand…(this happened about 5 years ago).
it’s another story so i’ll try and shorten it a bit…i was repairing a trailer roof once and needed some assistance manhandling the ali sheet and drilling, bolting and riveting and found some help in the form of one of the dock loaders…i got authorisation from the warehouse manager and we proceeded to have a good day out on the trailer roof up at the workshop yard…the loader was quite happy and was doing a good job in a more relaxed atmosphere than he was used to when handballing 40 ft containers empty.
at some point the resident forklift driving pratt comes upto the yard and starts badgering the loader who i had sent to fetch some more rivets, after a while he hasn’t come back so i climb down the ladder to see an argument developing between f/lift driver and loader…forklift driver jumps back on forklift and starts up ready to drive off…loader walks over to edge of yard and picks up a ■■■■■■■ big rock and throws it…it hits…forklift man now has a bleeding arm…loader picks up another rock(after a search) and throws it…loader turns and ducks and it hits him on the shoulder.i am ■■■■■■■ gobsmacked…up till then this had been a fine day, plenty of good craic, etc.
loader is wrestled to the ground and the police are called…loader gets sacked etc…a few days later he comes back to the yard to apologise to me…he explained that the forklift driver had been consistently badgering him,and calling him gay…now that goes on in haulage yards the length and breadth of the country…but this guy was african and he didn’t accept the insult at all and i think the forklift driver knew he wasn’t happy about it and kept pushing until it got to this point.
the point is some situations can get out of hand in pretty short order.
Lady P:
Last week a driver was sacked because of me
So was it definitely 100% because of your complaint?
Seems to me the Pratt was on the list for being given his cards due to other reasons, your complaint quite possibly gave the Ammo for the TM To fire.
If the driver had a squeaky clean record then I’m sure any TM would of handed out a displinary warning as Employers are wide open to Employment Tribunals now where it’s cheaper to pay out rather than the cost of defending the allegations of unfair dismissal.
well done lady p
i wont tolerate any body that likes to demean or humiliate another being
(except for my rants against the i r a )but there not human so its ok
■■■■■■ harrassment should be a thing of the past its not but it should be
and there will always be one wherever you go that see s you as a target because you are a woman
but then these guys either think there gods gift
there single and hate women lot off them about
or married and beat there wifes when there not happy

Lucy:
If you say to let this go “just this once” where the hell do you draw the line? “Oh well, he raped me, but we were having a laugh and ajoke before and a bit of harmless banter…and he was really sorry afterwards…so that’s alright then…” Let’s get real, eh?
Enough already, before I really get going…
Logical fallacy
Appeals to the Extreme
Description: Variant of the Slippery Slope . Appeals to the Extreme attempt to bring highly emotional elements into an argument in an attempt to exaggerate it to the point of absurdity. The difference between Appeals to the Extreme and the Slippery Slope is that an appeal to the extreme does not necessary attempt to show a causal relationship between the first step and the last.
Example: “Oh and if you’re gonna repossess my car, why don’t you just take my house, or how about one of my legs and an arm too!?!”
This guy was having a laugh same as the guy who did it to me he wasn’t gay nor was he ■■■■■■■■ assaulting me.
That’s the problem you say because “I’m a driver doesn’t stop me being a woman”; = overly sensitive, lack of logical reasoning as it is clouded by emotion and those straaaaange hormone things
Ok this guy was in the wrong. BUT calm down; there are steps to take when you are in a MANS JOB
And ‘shopping’ someone in before you have tried to sort it out between yourselves IS NOT ONE OF THEM!!!
