i have to say that i find it alarming that drivers on this site find it necessary for lady p to explain herself and justify her actions the chap was out of order you do not place your hands on a female fullstop
SuperSmiley:
Alas…thank u Lady P……for supplying the information that was actually required to make fair and proper judgement…………unlike your first post…too which everyone….but a sensible few…have made their minds up with no background facts……………Imagine every time……………someone said someone had done something to them…………and no background questions were asked…………this world would be a bloody mess……….
Think about it……in a court of law……or a case of dismissal…etc…….……………the background to the incident is found out first before judgement is passed………
Am I right or Am I wrong■■?Without knowing all the facts…or if not a good number…incorrect judgement is often made
Ady1…I’m with your last reply……………well done for standing up to the……Thick [zb]
Lady P……I wish u had gone to your boss the second time round…………i think u have been very generous and fair……….even just to wish this [zb]……a verbal warning…………
It’s a good things he’s gone……….he may have gone way too far one day……………
If u make the other drivers aware of the other stuff he’s done and how patient u’ve been……….they come around like the…….‘No’…….crowd on ere………whom I’m sure now have come around to agree with the pre-judgemental………Thick [zb]Oooohhh…….Lucy Lucy…in Lucy world……please don’t walk……take your truck and keep going…………
well said
Thank for explaining the situation more fully, from your original explanation I was pretty sure you’d done the right thing, but I could understand why some asked.
It sounds like a classic case of ■■■■■■ harrasment, just one form of bullying. Either he has a problem with women truck drivers or just women in general or thinks it makes him looks like a bit of a lad in front of his work mates.
Personally I think he’ll got off light when he got the sack, maybe his wife will dish out a bit more justice when she finds out why he got the sack.

I would have to agree 100%.
G

I’d agree with that.
Although I think Lady P should have reported him the moment he laid his hands on her. By all accounts he’d been warned enough.
I also find it difficult to understand why Lady P had to just justify her actions. Surely there’s no grey area in this type of assult.

It’s a good things he’s gone……….he may have gone way too far one day……………He did do the first time he done it. The ONLY excuse for bending a bird over is if its your bird and she wants you to!
absolutely “spot-on” Mike, thoughout the whole thread.
Well, apart from the fact that it’s extremely offensive to refer to them as “birds”
Mr Monk, I find nothing at all offensive about being called a “bird”
I always think of it as a term of endearment or colloquialism. Nothing more, or less.
Well, you see, that’s where the whole thing is a minefield, because although you might not mind it, and might regard it as a term of endearment even, the next woman might take extreme offence and march off to her line manager having a hissy fit.
In fact, the term “bird” to describe a female is a compliment, or at least it originally was, since “bird” was originally used to describe one of Florence Nightingale’s nurses.
and Harry should know as he was there at the time…

A lot of the people replying to the first post actually knew a lot more of the background facts than was in that post. There was a fairly lengthy discussion on this incident in the chat room on Saturday night so they may well have been basing their responses on that discussion rather than just the post.

Mr Monk, I have been addressed as many things in this line of work, and taken no offence. (may have had revenge)
Bird is lovely. I take no umbrage.

Thanks for al the replies
I have only know this driver a short time ( 6 mth) although not very well as we don’t see each other in the yard very often, due to work although it is a fairly small outfit that I work with
The only diffrence now is there is not as much ■■■■■■ inuendo so probably did some good
This driver also found out that I recently split from my long term partner
ladyP, you don’t have to justify yourself to anybody.
if a man lays a hand on a woman uninvited he deserves everything that comes his way.
and you didn’t sack him, your boss did.

Guilty,M’Lud. Although I stand by what I said whatever the context.
And as for doing nothing the first times on grounds of equality■■? It would have been an unacceptable action no matter what gender the people involved. EQUAL rights means EQUAL respect…not a good excuse for doing nothing. Spardo, you have seriously disappointed me, I thought you had more nouse about you than that.
Super Smiley, yes, I live in my own world. A part of the world which has included the transport industry for many years longer than yours has. A world where I have been on teh receiving end of this sort of thing - and a lot worse - and cannot understand any man seeing this as acceptable. Any male with that view is NOT in fact classed as a man in my book. Sorry, but there it is.
Ady. You gave your opinion in reply to a question. I gave my opinion of your opinion in the context of a discussion forum. If you aren’t happy to be challenged on your views, don’t air them.
i take the hint , its your way , your views or not at all

Equality means just that, if it had been done (first time) to a man by a man, there would have been no report and no sacking.I wouldn’t be so sure. I forgot this one, just before xmas a guy in our warehouse was fooling around with another guy wrestling and he tried to pull his trousers down to embarrass him. Sacked, straight away !!
yes and years ago it used to be part of iniation party when you came out of your time as a apprentice, trousers dragged off , chased round the shop floor by the women on the bun trollies , if you got caught shaving foam rubbed into your zb ,. did any one get sacked for it NO, did any of us complain NO, because it was tradition , it had happened to my grandad , my dad, and every other apprentice for years and years , now thered be uproar , sackings , court cases . are things better now , i dont think so
