Wag doing managers cpc

I’m getting my girlfriend to do the managers cpc so I can become a owner driver.
she’s a teacher so should be easy for her as its equivalent to a A level n shes got her masters.

question is do any others have there wives or girlfriends or even mates do it for you as your like me (dyslexic / thick) to do myself. I get all the driving laws n tacho hours n stuff but not the crap that comes with it. ie finance / employment laws (I only want to employ myself anyway)

Would it make a difference? She is still going to do it.

Finance is a big part of running your own business.

nope no difference at all but was just wondering if anybody else got someone else to do it for them.

and yes finance is a big part of running your own business but its easier to do and see when its in your hand n you can see what it is your looking at. take gypsies for example lots that I know cant read and write or do maths but you give them cash in there hand n they can work out what price it is… I doubt I would be allowed to sit in the exam with my monopoly money to use as I work out the cost…

haha its because of her I’m doing it. I moved to east Yorkshire n the pay around here is crap hence a few posts I have put on here…
if I had my way we would move down south. I’m starting on the agency tomorrow for stobarts for the grand total of £9.25 a hour with 45mins taken off for break. I cant wait… said no one ever

If she doesn’t already keep your ball in a jar, she soon will do!

Best of luck to you & her though…

What about the price of accommodation compared to down south though?
Just spent 5 years working out of Tunbridge Wells, as soon as I found out the prices of accommodation decided commuting would be a better option.

What!!. Any half wit can pass operators CPC, spelling your own name correctly and you’re half way there. Ops CPC = one week course & A levels take 2 years. CPC equivalent to a 5 yr old end of year assessment exam (I’ve seen my grandson’s). If you work in transport you’ll find it easier than your girlfriend. Passing your HGV test(2 weeks) is harder than Ops CPC.

It’s the degree of difficulty… it’s as hard as an ‘A’ level in terms of what it takes to pass the exams, not the duration of the course.

As for your “any halfwit” etc, I beg to differ because I used to teach Ops CPC and there were a number of people who were far more than “any halfwit” but they just couldn’t pass exams at the required level simply because they weren’t quite of the right calibre to begin with, which wasn’t their fault.

I’d also say (from experience) that one week is insufficient time for learning Ops CPC because of the level of difficulty.

However, I do agree with you in that it’s easier for somebody already in transport than somebody (no matter how qualified) from outside of transport because there’s not just the ‘stuff’ to learn, but also the learning of the language of transport, which is what I found defeated most of the ‘outsiders.’

What agency pays that low for Stobarts in East Yorkshire? Everywhere I’ve seen is £10+ because nobody wants to do it. Hell you can get 7.5t work paying £8.50/hr in Scarborough.

GI by any chance?

Doesn’t work like that. Just because you’ve got a masters in one subject doesn’t mean you’ll automatically be able to do anything. I’ve come across people with degrees incapable of doing simple fixes on their computer or changing a wheel on their car when they get a flat.

Well it’s harder than a o-level and easier than a degree so by process of elimination…

Can’t remember having to change a wheel or fix a computer on my CPC. It does massively favour anyone who is academically experienced to A-level and beyond.

I suspect this isn’t going to end very well …

Why would you want to become an o/d when you can get a job with Stobbies!!!
Like previously said though the language of transport will give her a headache- degree or not.

Let’s just say she’s finding it easier than I am. We sit in bed together n she reads and takes notes. She googles words n things she doesn’t know n them writes it down. Maybe I could do it with her but at the moment my head isn’t in the right place to do it like this. Some people learn things in different ways. I’m more hands on and learn by doing it. I’m not going to pay over 1.5k to sit in a classroom listening to someone waffle on when it can be done at home. If in September she fails we will go on from there but at the moment it’s my best option.

The stobarts pay is paye at 9.25 - the 45 min break

I’d say the home study option is far harder than the attendance course, solely due to the time required to focus on it. Also IMO the operator CPC is something the OD should sit themself
