Without a doubt. The regulations favour the driver far more than the company and are so flexible you (the driver) can use them to your advantage to work how you want to. When you know them properly, you can use them to make your life easier.

How far and how fast did you move? You might get away with it not recording.

I have always said, and still say, that the law is poorly worded. It would be better to say “The maximum time you can work is 15 hours, but only three times a week, and on the remaining days you can only work 13 hours”
That would be a step backwards, it isn’t 3 times a week any more.
Isn’t it? Well that shows how little I understand it…how many 15 hour days a week can you work then?

It’s three reduced daily rest periods between two weekly rest periods

So you can work six days in between two weekly rest periods, and can reduce your daily rest period for three of them? Surely six minus three is still three? So how many times in between two weekly rest periods can you work for longer than 13 hours? Three, or something else?

Three.
But in a week you could do six. Weekly rest Saturday and Sunday then work over 13 hours Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday followed by a weekly rest of at least 24 hours and then work over 13 hours Friday Saturday and Sunday. That would be six in a week, and you couldn’t do any more until you complete another weekly rest period.
What a load of old ■■■■■■■■ this is
Nowhere has it ever been proven that even working 24hrs a day will result in fatigue, the Driver’s Hour’s Laws were never there to prevent fatigue, they were there to provide a level playing field, that is all
You could have a driver working to the ‘dangerous’ law as stated in the OP, he/she sleeps for every minute of the rest/break times as required by law, then another driver who has 12hrs off every night but spends every minute poncing around watching ■■■■/playing poker/putting crap posts on trucknet, one is ‘safe’ on paper, but who is safer in reality
I’m no different to who I was when I used to run EEC Laws, now I’m subject to Canadian Hour’s of Service, what I now do legally would’ve seen me banned from driving lorries forever in England, legal and safe are two completely different things

Ah yes, perhaps I should have phrased it better, by “in a week” I did actually mean “in a weekly work period”.
to MRX…look mrx, there’s no barrier here, just a forum to discuss and examine the circumstances of the industry we work in and share our experiences. Maybe have a rant or share advice. We dont have to do the job- could have been brain surgeons or astronauts couldn’t we. Mr.Monk seems to have caught on ok without the bile and brimstone. However unlike myself some drivers are trapped by debts and mortgages and lack of ready alternative employment …like some I know…
A typical sunday to thursday routine you asked for is on a PM. The forum post just shines a light, with an example, on the blessing given by the powers that be to overtiring routines compared to the penalties we can suffer for far more trivial infringements.
I hope there are no 35 hour week train drivers reading all this they may get a hernia laughing.
theres 10 minutes of my life wasted - if you can’t do the job shut up and move on and let those who understand the rules get on with it . Find a bridge and take your camera - hi vis and a green fleece - youll have lots of friends who will love you .
