Volvo FH changes

I see the disguised truck on the M6 every night as I head home. But the door stops, sort the door stops, bloody annoying when they close on you and try and knock you off the steps.

Agree the windows look tiny and very high up especially the windscreen, your going to have an awful time seeing anything directly in front of you!

Rikki-UK:
For me… lose the sloping windscreen that loses so much living space for the driver, DAF’s- and Mercs compete on fuel without restricting the drivers cabin- just saying !

PS … having had a sneak preview I think they have !

Have you seen the finished product or was it one of the prototypes  :sunglasses:

I had to “cross my heart and hope to die” before seeing it that I wouldnt reveal anything about it…until after the launch ( and I got my phone taken off me) I will say it was a disguised model but under the false panels and wrap was just about the finished item

Volvo need to go off into a dusty corner of the factory and find the dies and punches from the F12 and start making that again, given that it was, IMHO, better than the FH12 in every way imaginable.

I hope you all can speak Dutch ! Apologies if it’s a double post !

Starting to look like the merc

I’m not sure I like the sloping bottom of the side windows and the strange curvy window/panel behind.

I don’t think this is a surprise, trucks are pretty constrained buy function and legislation. So manufactures are going to come up with pretty similar designs.

It’s really the differences in the cab and engineering, Volvo are making a big deal about the handling. It’s got Independent front suspension. I think that’s new in trucks. The reckon they’ve changed the rear suspension to improve ride and handling and moved the position of the cab suspension to improve the yaw of the cab, which some on here criticised.

They reckon they’ve improved I-shift with something called I-see that remembers hill :open_mouth: That’ll be interesting to see how well that works

They seem to have listened to drivers complaints of the old FH, got rid of the sloping screen, changed the mirrors and arms to reduce the famous blind spot.

Some other bits that look good for me are the steering wheel range of movement has been improved and a bit more space to push the driver seat back. I’m pleased they seem to have kept the I-shift in the same place and not put it on the steering wheel like others door.

Of course the real proof will be using one, but if that what it takes I’m ready.

Looks more like they nicked the top half from a Stralis to me.
