Its not exactly a secret that Volvo will be launching their new cab soon… and CM will be at the launch. What they want to know is what design issues with the FH do you want to see resolved in the new model? … post in here and the CM team will pick up what you say and see if they have been addresssed when the new model is revealed
Cupholders the original FH ones were much better
A facility to change up/down a gear in auto without having to change mode to manual first. lazy I know but most other makes have this over-ride.
Powered usb ports.
Stronger wiper arm springs, my 57 pate is fine but the 09 plates’ wipers bounce across the screen (scoring it) once it gets dry, such as the last sweep on wash/wipe.
Not sure on spec but a trailer light test function would be nice (remote/cab button), I know it has bulb failure but It’s still nice to actually see the brake lights working without trying to wedge the brake pedal.
Removable & washable covers for the top bunk.
Permanent 12/24v supply sockets without the key been on 1st position.
I’ve not driven a facelift model so some things might be in them
But there are some things I like to see them keep.
I prefer the gear selection to be on the seat than on the steering column like so many others.
I hope the seats are as comfortable as the present ones.
I’ve seen that you can raise one end of the bunk on the fact lift model so you can watch telly etc. and you can also lift the bunk to revival more storage space.
Things I’d like to see:
Being lazy I’d like the cruise control not to cut out when bringing the speed back to the selected cruise speed if you’re running downhill.
I’m sure the Renault doesn’t cut the cruise control unless you’re under the set speed.
Although I can find it comfortable enough, I would like to angle the steering wheel back more without having to lift it up as well.
A proper table, like the Scania. the thing I’ve seen in the facelift model seems to be a bit of a faff and after
thought.
More tachograph information available on the dash, like shift start times, total shift time.
A can cooler on the dash, I believe this is an option on the LHD premium.
I like a tidy cab, so lots of storage space and cubby holes to stick odds and ends.
and finally I’ve never liked the hard plastic dash board, feels a bit cheap and tacky.
All pretty minor things really but I like the FH so I hope the new one is a worthy successor.

Already possible in current version, depends on the i-shift package specified with the truck.

Couldn’t agree more, nice one…

+2 Without key in would be better

Agree, At least half a dozen scattered around the cab and replace the midlift axle on the 6x2 tractors with a steerable one as standard not a £3k option, oh and bluetooth for mobiles so you can use your mobile through the speakers hands free!
Return to the build quality of the series 1 FH.
I’ve not looked at the latest versions but the series 2/3 that I’ve driven we’re shockingly poor compared to a 97/00 model series 1 trucks I had.
Cheers
Neilf
looking forward to getting a 100% of the cab and not just 75% thanks to that stupid bloody rake in the screen
I can’t believe no one has highlighted the excessive roll with the FH cab.
A fundamental issue that needs addressing before the manufacturer starts looking at things like cup holders !

Never really thought it was excessive especially for a high cabbed truck. In fact I find it pretty stable even on rough country roads.

you can already do this on the 10plate models or later through the radio, comes with an aux jack & USB too on’t dash… I’d like to see an upgrade in the speaker quality or even adding a subwoofer under the bunk somewhere, it has 6 speakers & the bass line on them is crap, Scania have the right idea on sound quality!
Also it’d be nice if the driver’s seat could be pushed further back for the long legged folk like me, I know the truck was designed to be driven by women also but surely it should accommodate any size driver like MAN’s can…
P.s whatever you do please don’t change the gearbox/drivetrain…
The FH rolls more than Scanias, Man, Dafs, Mercs, I had my own FH on a 54 plate when I was tramping on fridges and used to sling it around for fun but it deffo had bad cab roll. Drove a new FH13 for my last firm this year, again rolled like a barge when driven enthusiastically !
The new ones now have some sort of gyroscope or accelerometer thing built in that feeds into warning you on’t dash that you’re about to tip over lol
After coming out of a Scanny R-series, and getting into an FH. Vision deffo’ needs sorting out, felt a bit restricted an dark !
Excellent I-shift tho’
For me… lose the sloping windscreen that loses so much living space for the driver, DAF’s- and Mercs compete on fuel without restricting the drivers cabin- just saying !
PS … having had a sneak preview I think they have !
So when is the launch date then?
had one in discise pass me the other nite on m25. looks like thay have sorted the sloping screen out,the roof looked a bit like an iveco as you can see most of it from the floor
