Looking great phil, i spent many a happy hour travelling the country with my grandad in an F86 artic for I J Blakey haulage of Hull
Would love to restore one myself one day if i had a large workshop :grimacing:

Hi greek Yes grey is the colour of the dash the early one were grey the bit thats wrong is the grill being plastic but the steel ones are like hens teeth

complete with hotplate to keep ya chips warm ha ha

Sorry for being picky Phill it was the grill that put me off, I think that grill came in back end of 73 or early 74 & first had Cream & Blue then not long before F7 changed to brown & cream, Mine was a K reg & that was grey.
Just for leej there was another use for the internal engine flap, it was a pressure relief valve when parked up overnight & been out for a few, my gaffer was always complaining about the white salty deposits over the radiater

Hi Barry! remember HDM 773K ex Shones motor you had in the 80s?, we re crabbed the truck after a shunt on the 41 with a refurb cab, didn’t use it long before it was part ex ed for…I think a Seddon A tiki 400 maybe that’s how you got it from the dealer next door?
Would love an 86 now, great little truck

I was going to say that, but thought the better of it!

When I did my one they said it was called californian grey

Australian preserved.

Australian one looks good ,could it be a 3 axle tipper chassis, bull bar will slow it down a bit

Its a 6X4 DOUBLE DRIVE TRACTOR

The Aussie F86’s had a Rockwell back end I think with 38,000lb diffs riding on Hendrickson suspension. They look good as a 6x4 tractor.

Thanks gents never saw a double drive 86 tractor in Uk. Not sure whether they built double drives over here if they did it would be for the tipper market in 6 or 8 leg chassis. Would that have been built in Ozz or imported think the little 6 ltr would struggle at 38t.

Hi again after the last post I was told there was a 86 in Rush Green with a metal grill so, I asked my wife if she fancied a day out
and she fell for it so we had a 3 hour drive to Rush green, Breakfast at Grantham (what more could she want ) Then on to Rush Green
What a place 48 acre’s of trucks from day one.
The one i was after was the green 86 (a few photos on the net ) The top grill came of in my hand the end bits came of with a pull with
some pliers as did the top piece but the two small bits at the bottom were tight up to the bumper but came in the end
The only parts i can use are the end c pieces but the other parts are good enough to use as patterns to make new ones
Here are the photos

Ps It looks a lot better with the metal grill just have the bottom bit to make now
And I picked you a grill badge for it on ebay too
