Volvo ad real or not

That “artic” isn’t articulated at all.
If it is, it’s certainly not going backwards and moving out away from the other truck. Not a single ounce of correction.

The artic is going in a dead strait line- the ridged is moving out- look at the floor lines.

Thats what volvo have said too.
they said that there were foot plates on the mirror arms, and van damme had a safety harness on, and they happily admit thesr were airbrushed out in the final edit.
apparently they practiced LOTS, but think the actual stunt was done in 1take :grimacing:
That new steering must be pretty good then :grimacing:

That’s because of the magic fairies in the “new” steering system do all the correction so you don’t have to.

Personally, driving different lorries all the time, self-centring steering with no feeling would just confuse and annoy me.

Yes but you would still see it correcting itself wouldn’t you?
When you’re reversing a trailer at speed, the second it starts to step out you correct it a little to stop it going, and even in a perfect straight line, the uneven wear on the tyres, the uneven road erosion etc will never ever keep a trailer in a straight line for that amount of time without correction.
Either they are going forward or that artic has a stabiliser on the 5th wheel or something.

Maybe they’re steering the trailer

They could be going in reverse at a very slow speed. The video could have been sped up in the final edit and the white lines painted in such a way to decieve you as to the true speed at which this stunt was done.
I don’t believe theres nobody here that cant reverse a trailer in a straight line.

Evening everyone
Just found this video and the translated text reads…
“Jean-Claude Van Damme is not the only one who can do the splits between two cars on the move. Yakushev Eugene from Grodno (Belarus), sat on the balancing act between two old Zaporozhtsev 60s of the last century (the first carburetors), in the rain, without insurance.”

if you see the Volvo video your notice its the rigid that moves over
you should look at the lines they have painted on the road for the driver

Interesting they didnt show him getting down  also van damme hasn’t been heard from since !!

Not read all the replies here but no way would I put my balls on the line like that,
However I’d put my balls on the fact that it’s not real.
No way never :frowning:

I feel like a nasty uncle now telling the nephew about Santa

For what it’s worth here’s my opinion. They started out with the lorries apart with him doing the splits like at the end then drove slowly forward with the rigid getting closer like at the beginning, then they just played it backwards

I think maybe the trucks are going forward rather than backwards !!

Yes, the trucks are moving forwards and the film has been reversed. It’s a well-used film trick, if you watch the original " Railway Children" film they do exactly the same thing, the train makes an emergency stop and stops less than half an inch away from Sally Thomsett’s chest, in reality the scene was shot with the train reversing away from her and then reversed to suggest that the train was moving towards her.

Got to agree,no one,but no one can reverse an artic in a straight line that good,no matter how long you’ve been at it.

I tried it and split my scrotum.Stiches come out Friday.

So now you can brag that you’ve got a hand stitched seam to your ball bag! RESPECT!
