The residents aren’t happy
On the face of it it seems that our esteemed colleagues are behaving like real knobs. Is there any legit reason to ignore that weight limit into what clearly seems an unsuitable street?
No excuse for that whatsoever, blaming sat-navs is a poor ‘get out’ when there are weight limit signs clearly displayed. I can why the residents think that there will be either an accident one day, damage to properties or both.
Pete.
Following sat nav regardless… Amazing how many do.
Should never break a weight limit unless you are close to an unknown delivery point. Then common sense says ask or ring customer to check. Or is it just me who is scared to look like one of the idiots on this type of video…
Wagons must be trying to get to Caterpillar which a bit beyond the village.
More lack of understanding of the ‘Except for access/loading’ signage I think, which as most of us know only applies to destinations actually on that road not beyond it. That alongside muppets not doing any route planning and just following a car sat nav
I sympathise with the villagers on this one to be honest.

No you just possess brain cells!
That’s one way to get away with driving down a weight restriction…knock the sign down
Not as if it’s a new thing round there; I was delivering to Caterpillar in the late 1980’s and I’m sure Desford village was a 7.5 limit back then.

If the customer is waiting for the load, you’ve got on, they’ll probably say drive through it.
Somewhere I used to go was always getting shouted at by locals in the village, similar to this. The drop was actually jusrt the other side of the village. All four roads in had weight restrictions but the shortest route from a weight restriction is through the village but obviously the residents would prefer you to take a different one.
If you had some gravel for their drive on a bet they wouldn’t be coming out of the weight restriction with a wheelbarrow to meet you. For industrial sites, in weight limits, lorries are accessing regularly local authorities should really put up signage indicating the preferred route.
Not sure if it’s Sandy in Beds, I’m thinking of but, there’s a weight limit in the town to stop you accessing the industrial estates but the actual route is through a housing estate which always seemed a bit daft.
Making the turn to Caterpillar from High Street in Desford is bad enough in a car, God knows what it must be like in anything bigger !!!

Bad enough ignoring signs but tell me why in all the pictures have the drivers started making the turn when it was surely obvious there was not enough room.
In my day a driver would know by looking at the corner whether there was enough room or not but these clowns seemed to have carried on regardless causing mayhem.

I’m surprised you haven’t noticed, or mentioned more often, that some lorry driving today is of a very poor standard.

So in your driving days trucks never had an accident? Never hit a bridge? Never drove down a narrow road and got stuck? Never, ever made a wrong turning?

Where did I say that? Any decent experienced driver should know by looking at a corner whether there is enough room.
Do you disagree?

Sorry I didn’t realise I omitted these points. I will try harder in future but fear a backlash from some of the more biased on here.

The line " in my day a driver would have known by looking g at the corner if there would be enough room" implies that today drivers do not posses that skill. I can assure you that most of us do. Just like there were drivers in your day, who would have had difficulty tying their boot laces.

Nope I did not say that either. All I said was the ones in the pics obviously do not possess that skill but seeing them does not fill me with confidence in others.

See? You are doing it again. Pointing out the obvious stupidity of an isolated example, and extrapolating it onto every driver working today.

No there’s not, and when I went back down the street on google, there’s another sign just at the entrance to the roundabout. I didn’t bother to check all of them, but I’d be surprised if they’re not all signed the same, so no lack of signs.
