Very serious predicament, need advice asap!

Own Account Driver
1, if that’s the case then they’re not doing the job they’re paid for and the company should be askibg some serious questions
2, it’s only abusing them if he is knowingly sending them on a wild goose chase.
3, can’t argue that point
4, I’d suspect they would know exactly where it’s come from. If others are running bent, why would they grass?
5, that’s on him. I really don’t think transport companies talk amongst themselves like they may have done in the past.

From “Noob hoping to make an ambition a reality” thread on New and Wannabe drivers forum:

CMH:
I have a job which is a class 2 but they will put in a class 1 in the new year. I go from early morning multi drops to night trunking.

So, can we assume they’ve not “put you in a class 1 in the new year?”

This thread has gone a bit wonky, the OP asked for advice, but got slated for it and accused of all kinds of things.

He was accused of making it all up because he never presented evidence, the accusations never had any evidence either, which is ironic.

Can’t really say I blame him for giving the thread a wide berth :bulb:

It happens a lot on here, people jump on the band wagon with their mates etc…always the same few as well eh :unamused:

I do know that a satisfactory conclusion was reached, despite this thread…

Maybe, but them same morons just go to work do the job and then go home, he was told to go to Vosa, it is now three days since he asked for advice, he got it but did nothing with it, did he prove the lorry was overloaded, no, and as for other driver’s, you keep nose out of there business… Now why are we morons.

For a big company with depots across the country supplying food to supermarkets that’s exactly what VOSA will do.

No chance, CMH has integrity he wouldn’t be prepared to overlook such horrific threats to road safety just for his own self-interest.

Not my place to say…

well knowing that has made my day!
if the o/p only wants to let the moderators know the full story he may as well have sent a pm to one of them in the first place, saving the many less important members the time and trouble of reading and posting on another pointless thread!

good

He did try to get constructive advice, but right from the start got shot down in flames with the usual ‘You’re new so know nothing, we’re experienced so know it all’ ■■■■■■■■ that all too often appears on these pages :unamused:

He initially said that the lorries had extra drops added to cover routes where drivers had left. From this I assume that the rounds were initially set up to take up a full day/lorry load, whichever was the greater. So adding extra drops is going to add extra time and weight, not exactly rocket science is it :open_mouth:

Next the tail lift safety guards, no guards means the only way to do it with some degree of safety is one at a time, but extra drops have been added so time is something that is important, especially on job and knock work, so it’s only a matter of time before it all goes horribly wrong :open_mouth:

The driver’s licence issue, the TM should never have let anybody take a lorry on the road without evidence that they had the correct licence. That is not open to debate, the TM is 100% at fault here. This was proved by the driver being let go four weeks later. Yard talk and MMTM stuff may have made the situation seem worse, he may have had a ticket, but couldn’t produce it for whatever reason, bit the fact remains, if the TM hadn’t seen his licence, he should not have been given a job :open_mouth:

Personally I would have taken a different approach than the OP, but I have many years of experience to call upon, but a newbie doesn’t, maybe he was making a mountain out of a mole hill, but even so, the more experienced among us should really be giving advice on where he was going wrong, do he could learn from the experience, rather than having a pop at him.

This thread is a shining example of why drivers are treated the way they are, no solidarity exists amongst us

Well sh*te, i waded through all six pages and didn’t get to see any blood and snot flying at the end :imp: :imp:

Charles

He was told to tell Vosa but has he, and the alleged overloaded lorries, what did he do about that. You either sort it with the boss, get a new job and grass them up or ask for advice and then when it’s given moan that your being picked on like a flaming three year old.

Oh and when we disagree we get accused of being an older driver and not wanting to help, a lot of the older drivers on here would go out of there way to help anyone.
Tell your mate take the advice and do something about it.

well I now feel much better, safe in the knowledge that when I go on my night shift later I wont have to share the roads with trucks from this menace of a firm, or was it a molehill and the firms still running?
go on spill the beans!
