So far I’ve not found this place to be particularly harsh on new people. Sure, you ask a stupid question, you get a stupid answer. I just keep my head down and dodge the bullets.
Quite agree mate that newbies don’t get a rougher ride than any others. I think the ones that get the hardest time are those that post something blatantly wrong with 100% conviction and then get all arsey when their mistake is pointed out. None of us knows everything and I find that if you approach a forum with that mindset then folk are more than willing to help in any way they can.
I find that posters who give it the big “I am” usually get a rougher ride too, and deservedly so. My theory is that those that gob off the most on the interweb are those most likely to be quiet doormice in the real world.

You also have to contend with the odd poster that tries to make themselves look good by singling out someone like a Newbie to have a pop at! It’s not common but there have been a few…
