Us lot on here are not well liked

Didn’t seem like a bad lad to start with and the industry certainly needs some younger blood. Driving style wasn’t great, the way he seemed all over the wheel and gearstick like an orangutan but a more relaxed and controlled style would probably come with experience but really let himself down badly.

Don’t actually think he was as bad as the other dashcam chap on here but needs to settle down and accept he’s partly responsible for encouraging these altercations with other motorists.

Ar the end of the day driving trucks you’ll get brake testing, horn beeping and coffee beans, even when you’ve done nothing wrong beyond holding someone up for a few seconds.

Dear Mr Fantasfox, I hope you will read this…

This whole situation has come about because Jay posted videos of some pretty dire driving claiming that the other person(s) were to blame. The focus that brake checked him wouldn’t have done so, or had the opportunity to do so if Jay hadn’t pulled out so [zb] close to him. The van who came into contact with Jay wouldn’t have done so if Jay has simply eased off a smidge, not a hard thing to do but as Jay posted in the following vid he has the attitude that if someone is trying to cut in he won’t let them and “[zb] @em”. This is the problem, he is creating events to show on his channel and explaining them in a way that puts the blame on the third party when in fact the blame is his because as a “professional driver” you have to make allowances for all the normals.

Then, after some justified critisism he come on here giving it the big 'un and offering people out. Now I don’t know what you condsider being a keyboard warrior but to me that is a case in point.

I’m sure that some of his followers have gained much from watching his vids but to be showing this type of driving as normal is irresponsible. Any one of us on here if asked for help by someone regarding trucking, I have no doubt, would help as much as possible. We just don’t make videos and post them online then cry or get aggressive when critisisized.

If you put youself on public display and act the way Jay has in some of his vids, then you should be prepared to take some heat.

+1.

+2 Spot on!!!

+4 bang on with that

To be honest, I couldn’t see any value to his videos. They were just half hour snippets of his daily grind. 10 mins watching a forklift unload a lorry :open_mouth:

Nothing more than his own version of the stobart show.

His driving was okay, until his attitude let him down. He doesn’t carry himself off very well, and those who resort to swearing and threats of violence, whether on his vids or on here, really shows a lack of intelligence and class.

And as for the crying man in the other link :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

I’ve watched it, 10 minutes of Bull ■■■■■■■■■ I can say the blokes a hypocrite … professing " can’t stand bullies, can’t tolerate bullies, then proceeds to claim this story about when he as 8yrs playing on the swings doing his own thing, these lads where handing a can about which someone spat out… obviously they’d urinated in it… " I was incensed so I went over and gave them a hiding " Was that done to impress us all about his morals…
Definitely nailing his flag to someone camp and the venom in his voice about he’d take on 1000 Jays than any of us… what a saddo…

Looking at the immigrants thread, the dead 3 year old on the beach thread, and the shoreham air crash thread to name but a few, I find it hard to see why we are not well liked

What I find most mind blowing is the fact that he and most of the youtube comments have all jumped to Jays defense about how wonderful he is and how it is such a shame he put videos up and got bullied on here (in a gross misunderstanding of what being bullied actually means) and make such a big song and dance about him getting called names on here. While at the same time putting up lots of derogatory insults aimed at TNUK’s members!
The irony of having a go at people for insulting someone by name calling is completely lost on them!

Isn’t that called general discussion… freedom of speech… ■■?

As a far as not being liked by the YouTube community and so called list of subscribers / followers to this guys channel, who cares what they think of us on this forum …most of them are kids and ppl that don’t drive anyway…
I can understand why so many TN members have posted negative comments about these videos, here we have this guy posting videos with all the obscenity’s, the drama and the created situations potentially putting other road users at risk… then portraying this as normal behaviour of a truck driver, no wonder the great British public have such a low rate opinion of haulage drivers.

when they view this and I beg the question how does this help newbies and wannabes …
Lets just wait to see what the next instalment is… :grimacing:

I’m a youngish, wet behind the ears driver who’s going to start a ‘dashcam channel’ soon. I’m not planning on spinning the camera round selfie style for all the glamour ■■■■■■■■, I’m interested in keeping a personal record of my first year or so driving artics on the road, and genuinely try to capture difficult situations and how I deal with them. I really detest the ego trip that seems to go along with some people purporting to be ‘helping new drivers’ when in fact it’s just a video of a lorry driver shouting at other road users.

There are some good videos out there that don’t aspire to create drama, and I hope to be able to contribute my experiences. As an aside, I’ve been driving rigids for a few years and spend so much time on the road it would be nice to feel like I’m doing something helpful for others (while at the same time covering my own backside!) as well as simply getting goods from A to B to Z and back to A again!

You lot don’t scare me, I’ve got a military grade flak jacket ready to be dusted off at a moment’s notice

Good on you pal. Hope the channel goes well if you get around to it. I can garuntee within the first 5 mins of your first recording you will have mentioned about 10 different swear words and called, threatened and abused about 10 different drivers

The only YouTube video blog I’ve seen that I connected with was Luke Vernon’s. It’s as plain as day that he doesn’t do the vids for admiration or a platform for an ego. Bare in mind the public stereotype of drivers. I’m guessing a lot of his motivation was to project the positive side to lorry drivers and their side to the public. And in my mind, he succeeded in his videos.

The boss hog who’s chief subject of this thread, brought that perception down a couple of pegs. We winge and whine on here about public perception of us. Videos like Luke’s have positively aided us and should be rallied. I feel that is a good benchmark when posting videos of you at your work. Don’t use it to look like a ■■■, angry man or some sort of driving God.

Btw. Javiatrix. Going off your username, take it you’re a lass as an aviatrix was a 30s name for a flying lass wasn’t it? . I’m in a poirot mood.

Sorry if I got your hopes up for a blonde, blue eyed sweetheart making trucking videos, but I’m afraid not! There is a connection to aviation though, well spotted.

Public perception is a big thing for me; I don’t know about others, but more than once I’ve seen people visibly surprised when I get out the truck, open my mouth and manage more than a Fred Flintstone vocabulary. It’s a shame really, but as much as we moan and groan about big companies and their 'elf and safety, it does tend to be them that keep their trucks in good nick and promote the job as something more than an ape behind a wheel, which can only be a good thing?

Sorry, I know this is an old thread. But - HA!, blame evilbiz for linking it in a recent post! :sunglasses:

So far I’ve not found this place to be particularly harsh on new people. Sure, you ask a stupid question, you get a stupid answer. I just keep my head down and dodge the bullets.
