Stobart want some, but they haven’t got enough bright sparks to drive them.
Must be for the publicity there are other companies who actually have working electric trucks now and have the facility to build them. Mercedes-Benz being the best atm.
I dunno how long tesla can last if they keep announcing new models without having the facilties to actually build them. They can’t even keep up with the demand on their current cars.
Also tesla is not known for reliability.
I quite like tesla but they seem to have too many fingers in different pies.
They also neglected to mention how much payload it can carry. Quite a big deal considering the weight of the batteries.

I hope not it just gets silly.
My place might be ordering some, at the moment they are looking at the positives and negatives.
What… I know it’s not funny but this is my yearly clean post.

Some people are all cell(f) cell(f) cell(f).
All they need to do, is fit a dummy twin splitter gearstick and a tape of a V8 burble, and they will have cracked the market…
Watt will happen when the battery runs done, how will it get you ohm??

There’s ample range.
We’ve had a couple of EV’s for a few years now, not at our depot, we only have man size trucks at ours …didn’t live up to expectations, reliability was an issue and all the figures they got quoted (range and all the other stuff) was nonsense… always being towed back in, overheating and a few others iirc. Weighs as much as a small rigid with a fraction of the payload…and probably twice as expensive! Spent most of its time parked up in the yard. IMO, full on electric trucks that are capable of pulling a similar load to what we can haul now will not happen as long as I’ve got a hole in my arse!
Watt on earth next?
Not every haulage operation maxes out it’s payload,
Not every haulage operation operates at long range.
There will be electric trucks in haulage very soon, but they will be used on very specific jobs,
Maybe like the job I was doing the other day, shunting on and between factory sites, a whole days work less than a 100kms driven.
Electric trucks are unlikely to be seen on general haulage operations, at least in the near future, unless there is a major development in the technology.
However I do have doubts about the Tesla truck, not still no payload information, still no independent reviews from the commercial vehicle media, nobody can test it’s 500 mile range claims.
And most of the people getting excited about quite obviously have nothing to do with the haulage industry, they’re a bit like Stobart fans who believe everything in the telly program.
Agreed electric trucks will become a major part of the industry.
I just can’t see how tesla will cope with the demand do they have a plant to even make these yet?
They are also an unproven company not known for reliability. Which is a bad thing for the trucking industry. When the lorries break who will fix them? This a big issue with their cars with customers having to travel hours for a service. How will they compete with the likes of Man or Scania in terms of aftersalesp support.
If I was going to buy an electric truck I’d buy one off of Mercedes or Scania who have sites everywhere incase something goes wrong.
