I suppose, in the current climate, that in order to short circuit the driver shortage, and to insulate them from its effects, UPS could offer to employ drivers regardless of their polarity. AC, DC, or both.
That might be sufficiently magnetic to spark some interest and galvanise people to apply.
It’ll never catch on, too much resistance to change impedes progress. Fleming heck, don’t people realise our roads are at full capacitance and we can’t continue unless we induce charge with movement in a new direction.
And subsidised by the tax payer.
When every bugger drives a zero emission car or truck who is going to pay road excise duty?
These pieces of garbage are heavier than combustion engine vehicles,so do more damage to roads.
And of course you got to recharge these things so where does the power come from and who is going to pay for the thousands of charging points needed in every truck stop, car park, garage all over the planet.
Its all a bloody pipe dream.
And do you for one moment believe that oil companies are going to give up their monopoly on money printing ?
I dont think so.
adam277:
Must be for the publicity there are other companies who actually have working electric trucks now and have the facility to build them. Mercedes-Benz being the best atm.
I dunno how long tesla can last if they keep announcing new models without having the facilties to actually build them. They can’t even keep up with the demand on their current cars.
Also tesla is not known for reliability.
I quite like tesla but they seem to have too many fingers in different pies.
They also neglected to mention how much payload it can carry. Quite a big deal considering the weight of the batteries.
You only have to look at “space x” to see what sort of company “Tesla” is
A total bloody con.
I’m not a fan of Tesla or Elon musk. Heard Tesla described as “forward thinking” (humans beings are imbeciles and view anything they haven’t done before as forward). He’s like the pied piper of Hamlin.

A con mechant and a sheister.
I belive that he is backed by the CIA.
How the hell can one individual take over all the operations of NASA (another con that loses credibility day by day) afford a budget of 57 million dollars a day.
Smoke and mirrors.
Read about dear Elon and it really does open your eyes to how we are manipulated.

A good point. I think it was only a decade ago there was a massive push for alternative fuels but now that has died down we are settling for electrical power from nuclear and coal power plants.
I can’t see how the grid could cope if every car and truck was fully electric because we don’t even want to build new nuclear power stations because of them being unpopular.
Maybe the battery life will get better and better with more R&D although we have been using electric vehicles for over 100 years; so its hardly new technology.

Any chance of a spolier before I go off and do some reading?
He isn’t really rich. He’s being financed by big businesses to set up electric vehicles and deliberately fail. They deliberately don’t produce enough to meet demand so that the public become disillusioned. And anyway Tesla aren’t true electric. There is a small nuclear power plant in each one so they aren’t green at all. Smoke and mirrors: you only think you’ve seen Tesla cars, you’ve been hoodwinked like all the rest.
And who can afford to pay for all this? Obviously it’s the US led global oil industry. Who else would benefit? Logical ain’t it.

Sounds like something from the plot of Cars2, (yep I’m a bit sad )
But the pit stop in Cars 1, is still the best pit stop of all time in my profesional opinion.

Confession: Never seen “Cars”, either 1 or 2. But with the next generation coming along, xmas etc etc, daresay that`ll change.
Being an uncle to many nieces and nephews and now a great uncle, I’m duty bound to side with them against their parents when they want to watch these films, (its not that I enjoy the films more than them honest. )
I won’t tell you the plot, far to complex, think bond movie with cartoon cars in the main roles.
