Remembering back to one of the Ducks&Bailers episodes where the narrator said about the ‘unwritten truck drivers code’ about how we will always help each other out etc etc.
If i see a truck waiting to pull out of a side road onto a fast flowing road i will happily stop and let him out even if i have cars behind me. As other truck drivers (some not all) do the same for me, things we do but you dont actually have to do it.
So…if it went from being unwritten to being a written code what would you include in it? can be serious or funny.

When I first started I had a drop on and the bay had those long concrete bollards sticking out making it very hard to reverse in as they had used up a lot of the reversing area. I struggled like mad and could see at least 10 drivers sitting their shaking their head and this was making things worse as I was now embarrassed and frustrated. Then from nowhere and old man got out his vehicle walked over and said" I won’t do it for you as you will not learn anything but I will talk you through the manoeuvre ". This made me feel much better. So I would add no turning a blind eye and head shaking offer some assistance like the old man and help out the new comers.

Although I am nice and shiny not old and experienced I do that since my first steps in transport. When someone who I want to help says if I am that cleaver why I do not make it for them I say : I can only do that or nothing and guess what they want it.
One day I arrived to bit tight place which was extra reduced by skip container dropped to close to the bay and I helped the driver that was struggling there, than he stayed and helped me and I felt bit stupid as when he couldn’t manage it I was thinking - God it’s so easy - but I managed to do it in 5 minutes less then he did ( 35 min ) as I was struggling came one older ( read experienced ) bloke. As I was on bay the first one left and before I went I asked other one if he wants me to guide him - he refused and said he can manage it - as I went off the bay I stopped and stayed there in the cab for one shunt of his and than get out to guide him - it took him 5 min less than I did.
I will newer forget how grateful he was that I stayed.

of course leaving enough room, if necessary, for said truck to manoeuvre on your side of the road if you’re coming the other way. Can be done by a truck driver not actually driving a truck but apparently rarely by anyone else.

I agree character building I think its called. There should also be a maximum time your vehicle can hog a diesel pump, ok if a big queue but not so you can do your weekly shop and have a dump
I go for letting drivers of articulated vehicles have shot guns to blast ■■■■■■■■■ drivers that think its funny to watch blue come from our tyres as they cut in front
How about all drivers must remember that fog lights should only be used when foggy (i’m sure this is written down somewhere already but i think it needs doing again)
