By the way I am coming down under again soon to see your beautiful country once more. Well actually a cruise from Auckland round various ports then onto Tas then onto Australia.
Can’t wait.

Can we have plenty of pics of your down under adventures.
Hang on a sec wasnt the last time you went down under just after that bin lorry pulled out on you.

Boy you have a good memory. Seen that same driver at it again. He did not just pull out on me. He pulled out as I was half way passed him forcing me onto the other side of the road. There’s always a bad one in a bunch.

Yes I will get some pics this time. Just got to keep the wife out of the way. Don’t want you lads getting over excited!

Classic TNUK this thread, loving it! :grimacing: :grimacing:

A frustrated OP who vents a little anger loosely describing a situation, and then all hell breaks loose!
We have the driving standards agency, who clearly need to add the word “unrealistic” to their name, the serious voices of reason, the sarcastic, the usual bellends adding to the entertainment. Quality!!!

Dan Bear mate - Ignore the TN-DVSA in the form of Albion1971, and Mr Erectile Dysfunction who only pops in now and then for a condescending post on the alleged stupidity others in an effort to make his own existence a little more bearable. They clearly both don’t have a clue about the realities of Multi-dropping, they can’t perceive that pushing 1t pallets around to all sorts of locations can be SOMEWHAT difficult!   Even a gentle incline is the difference between success and failure, then there is gravel, kerbs & obstructions. Couple this with finding a suitable level place to drop your tail-lift and the issues are multiplied again… The drops can vary greatly, from 50 mph A roads, busy high streets & tight residential address where just finding a spot within 50 feet can be difficult without blocking the who road and traffic flow for 10 minutes. These people can’t remember the reality of it, as it’s such a long time ago if ever. The only coffin dodger on here with any memory of those old days is Juddian!

I’d like to agree with F-reds that venting your anger by blowing them a kiss is a better way of dealing with the situation, and while it’s better than offering them out, it’s still not perfect! Yes when you’re insulted, you need a way to deal with it, and the only way you can truly do that, is be as perfectly behaved as you can be, and the amount of sarcasm you add to your subservience to them, should increase exponentially as the insults you face escalate. It’s incredibly satisfying when you behave perfectly after getting called a copulating ■■■■■■. Do it well and use their ammunition against them, it’s incredibly satisfying when things escalate, and 99.9% of times it never gets that far, as it never starts… It’s a lot easier and less stressful way to deal with things, as you don’t place yourself in a compromising position you could regret later, when F-reds has been reprimanded for ■■■■■■ harassment!

It wasn’t blowing kisses I was reprimanded for…

F-reds:
It wasn’t blowing kisses I was reprimanded for…

Christ, that reads badly.

Cheers its a memory drawer technique me shrink taught us to help with my condition. Not perfect but we can store pointers for future reference and google does the rest. Plus the amount of bollox I come out with a good memory is essential.

Nice one, think it will be a while before a drivers wives thread is allowed again. Great while it lasted though.

Hi evil, I was wondering when you’d pipe up

U write posts like a newspaper column, I enjoy reading them. It’d probably take me half an hour to write a reply like that lol!

How’s life in an artic treating you mate? I bet you dropped that 26 tonnes like a hot potato :grimacing:

Mr Erectile Dysfunction who only pops in now and then for a condescending post on the alleged stupidity of others

I found posting a profile pic pretty hard.
My first attempt was a flop and this one was the only thing I could get up, and stay up for any length of time.

If the ol’ bill did’nt give ya tap on the shoulder, you protected yourself and others… apart from that impatient p***k. Too many of them on the roads these days :unamused:

Hi pal, glad to see you playing in the big bellend forum!

I took the first opportunity to get out of the Class 2 work out my firm for just the reason you’re experiencing! :grimacing:
The drops in an artic are completely different, and you don’t get sent to residential places where your first reaction regarding the access is: Are you having a laugh? Or dealing with customers that haven’t given a thought to how the pallet is going to get to their desired location… I always fell back on the phrase of “kerbside delivery” when things got messy, although if possible I always did my best to get it as close as I could. However that didn’t always go to plan, and I recall delivering a ton of lime for some builders to a residential address once, and the house owner said the builders who were not there wanted it all the way up the gravel drive!   I stated that this wouldn’t happen with a pallet truck, and I’d be lucky to get 2 foot through the entrance way. The owner said OK, and I suggested they get their car out before I tried, as otherwise I’d probably block their car in! So parking 50m up the road :imp:, and using the gentle incline, I came down the road at pace and swung the pallet truck into the drive which was slightly up hill, and just as I suspected, the pallet truck said no the moment it hit the gravel. I got the delivery ticket signed from the house owner who was grateful that I’d warned them to get their car out first, and I shot off quick before the builders turned up! 30 mins later I get a call from the office asking who told me where to put the pallet of lime, and who signed for the delivery. I stated it was the house owner and I’d warned them that I wouldn’t be able to get the lime to the back of the drive. At that point the office told me that the builder on the phone was going ape crap at them!   The moral of that little story is that you can try to do your best for people, and it will never be enough. You will get the blame for other peoples stupidity or lack of thought and planning!

With Class 1 pallet multi-drop it’s completely different, it’s generally to industrial estates dealing with people who’s actual job is to unload wagons, and not suffering the obviously deliberate annoyance that you’re distracting them from dealing with something else… You do get the odd bellend, but on the whole it’s a lot less confrontational, and if the site is a bit tight, the staff will help you get out. I never got that driving an oversized VAN! I won’t deny that the driving and reversing aspects in an artic are a little more scary, as I’ve driven in to a few places and instantly thoughts: How the hell do I get out of here? But that will diminish with more practice and experience, plus I’m happier to face that, than the moronic general public as frequently…

P.S. Did a drop of 18 pallets into a well known pharmaceutical company just over a week ago. I reversed onto the bay, handed over my keys and asked to use the toilet. Got told the nearest one was out of order, and to use the ones over by the staff canteen. 30 minutes later after a huge plate of Haddock and Chips for £2.50, I got back to the truck to find it unloaded! :grimacing: You don’t get that on Class 2 multi-drop pal!

Evil8Beezle:

Rubbish, I’m a coffin dodger too and well remember those old days. I was sent over to the Cadbury/Fry warehouse at Silverthorne Rd in Battersea one day to pick up a van with London deliveries. When I got there it was one of them TK Bedfords with little wheels and 48… yes that’s forty eight drops around the west end! This was at about 10.00, so you can imagine how many didn’t get done. I partly blocked a few roads and footpaths, but not one complaint came my way because people in the sixties had a lot more nous and patience than most of these tossers nowadays that only get out of bed to get offended.

Large Haddock and chips for £2.50 that’s a dream come true for me  (another bit of useless information to add to the post)

There was a Brakes driver in Witney High Street yesterday that was ungrateful for his parking ticket. He parked in the taxi rank (do taxis get tickets for parking in loading bays?) pumptrucked some chilled right past a Community Warden who went straight to the truck and ticketted it. I don’t know if Brakes pay parking tickets but I take it they don’t, judging from the drivers’ reaction.
He was bang to rights he’d parked right next to the sign with the “taxis only” notice on. Nice bit of entertainment for a Saturday morning, that’s his agency wages for a crap job up the swanny.

Don’t let him wind you up. He like many others obviously feel threatened because of our superior knowledge about the job.
Experience counts for everything in transport and the likes of you and I were doing multi drop before he was filling his nappies.
Now he fills the forum with the same thing

On a more serious note you are correct, people have changed and not in a good way. Everybody is is in a hurry and has no respect for anyone but themselves. Courtesy is a rare thing these days.
We lived and worked in a far better atmosphere and drove proper lorries something a lot of the younger generation could never handle.
They struggle to reverse properly with power steering. Could you imagine them without it? and let’s not talk about eaton twin splitters.

I don’t think Peter gets ‘wound up’ and I don’t think E8b was being entirely serious either tbh mate…hence the

I don’t think he was being ‘knowledge superior’ either, more coming from a ‘one newbie to another’ angle.( to DB not Peterm)
I do feel protective towards him being that he’s my long lost so…errr I mean forum mate

Btw Yeh those days in the job were better than today, but let’s not get too carried away here, there were arse holes around trucks then also, …albeit not as many as today.

Also Dan Bear? That name rings a bell, is it that bird that Ryan Giggs was shaging years ago?
I certainly would not be ungrateful

I know what you mean Rob, I too have taken the odd young driver under my thigh. One feels that by giving them a leg up with nuggets of wisdom that one day they can fly on their own and reach new heights I can only dream of.

I may not have the wisdom of our more mature members but having been blooded myself by an older hand back in the day I have years of experience to call upon. Experience and wisdom dont always go hand in hand but even if I cant show them the right way to do stuff ill certainley be able to warn them about the wrong way.

Times are changing and more technology is coming into the game so theres even times a neewbie can teach me a trick or two. Everdays a learning day as we say.

Albion1971, I think you completely missed the sentiment of peterm’s post, as I don’t think I offended him in any way with the “coffin dodger” jibe. Besides, it was more a dig at Juddian who unlike yourself has a sense of humour and likes a bit of banter. Sorry if this is lost on you, perhaps your sense of humour has become dehydrated and turned to dust you impending worm food!
Anyway, my comments/point was all about you posting idealistic bollox that doesn’t fit with the real world. I’m sure every delivery driver would love to find the perfect safe place to pull over and make a delivery, but sorry to break it to you me old china, your rose tinted spectacles are cracked! It’s just not possible to always pull up in the perfect spot, and it’s bad enough dealing with the public’s anger and frustration, so the last thing us newbie multi-drop drivers need, is some sanctimonious old crone preaching crap that leads us to assume you were making deliveries “back in your day” with a man running in front of you with a red flag. The world has moved on pal, get a grip on that, or let go and look into the light my friend!

Have you considered that just about everything is timed these days and drivers are chased the second they fall behind schedule?
Probably not!

Have you looked at the job market recently?
Those that don’t crack on soon get replaced by those that do…

Have you considered that DanBear was parked in a perfectly sensible place and the car driver was just being a knob?
Again, it appears not…

So in summary Albion1971, yes I may be a Newbie, but I hope to god I don’t become such a predictably condescending boring old git like yourself. DanBear probably didn’t come on here and post what he did, to have you once again demonstrate your “advanced bellend training”, I suspect he came on ONLY to vent a little frustration, with some other drivers that know what it’s like when the general public act like dicks! Anyway, we all know you’re an advanced bellend, just stop proving it to us at every possible opportunity.

And to play “devil’s advocate”, just as you do!
What if you’ve now made DanBear reluctant to release his frustration on here, what then? Will you be paying for his theropy, or will you take responsibility when he knocks 7 shades out of a member of the general public. Actions have consequences, have you considered yours fully■■?
Think of the children Albion…

P.S. Thanks for sticking up for me Pops, I mean robroy! :grimacing:

Albion. Why do you think you are a superior driver because you didn’t have power steering for years? Are you really saying that newer drivers could not reverse trucks without it?

Because if you are, it would suggest that human being’s arms and eyesight have somehow genetically deteriorated over one generation.

Which means your ability to talk absolute ■■■■■■■■ seems to be on the increase.

I can only assume his need to promote a superiority, come from an inner insecurity…
