So I’m looking through the job market today and I come across a job near me that looks pretty decent. I phone up the recruiting agency and ask what the company is called as I may be interested in applying for a job. The agency worker told me she cannot tell me the name of the company as they are not allowed to give that info out. I would need to apply for the job first then if I was successful I would be told what the company is. Are they for real! Who on earth is going to apply for a job before they even know what the company is. Unbelievable!
It’s an agency job. They never tell you who it is, to stop you going direct.

Seriously? Flip me that’s unbelievable, could be the worst company in the country then. Think I’ll keep looking

So why wouldn’t you apply see who it is, maybe even give it a try as not every job is to everyone’s taste but could be reet for you
I understand why they need to do it like that, but yeah I agree it’s really annoying and totally puts me off the agency route. I want to know who I’m working for before I apply, partly so I can look at where I’d be commuting to so I can work out costs etc
Yeah its incredibly shocking isnt it.
Anyone would think they didnt want you by passing them and going right to the company.
Unbelievable
Think that is Allied Bakeries Apollo Rd Belfast.
Industrial Temps have the sole contract in there.
If deckers/daycab DAFs and 2am Starts are your thing,

Just a pointer…
Many companies use agencies for quite different reasons.
Some companies use agencies to hire temps in the normally accepted way, which saves them for a whole load of admin type stuff.
Some companies use agencies to recruit new permanent staff, which saves them for a whole load of admin type stuff.
For those workers reluctant to give their details to an agency (quite understandable) it might be an idea to phone the agency to ask about the nature of the employment (temp/perm) then make your decision?
A large number of companies have slimmed down their retained office staff, so they now don’t have the time/manpower to conduct the whole interview process themselves and now often pass part of it to agencies to get the initial ‘sifting’ of candidates done for them.
Just because the initial offering appears to be from an agency, it doesn’t necessarily follow that it’s an agency job.
£100 night out money? lol.

Exactly Dave. I’ve been offered three permanent directly-employed jobs from the two agencies I’m with, starting directly with the company. Companies seem to use agencies to sort the wheat from the chaff nowadays, wether it be temp,perm,temp-perm or whatever.
In those circumstances if the agency tells you who their client is you’ll go direct and their fee or commission goes down the pan.
Another way of getting an agency to weed out the lemons for them is where you serve your probation with the agency. Then if you’re not Frank Spencer the company takes you on their books.
Seriously… if they told you the name of the Company and you went direct, instead of signing on for them, they would lose out on their revenue.
Agency don`t supply Drivers for nothing, who ever the Company is they supply to then have the option to sort out the “chaff from the wheat”
I cant see why the agency shouldn’t supply the name of the company, even if you went direct to that company, the said company
should refer you back to the agency if that’s why they have instructed an agency to sort the good from the bad.
Why would you take the trouble to list with an agency pass all their tests, only to be told the job is with a firm
on the other side of the city. likewise you may have worked before for this company and know them to be a bad firm
to work with. just a waste of everyone’s time…
There’s no reason to think that it’s not just a typical advert for agency drivers as usual to be placed with no particular firm.

However, you might find that it’s the only way they employ their drivers now, as the government allows this long term…
Or it’s the way they assess employee’s before offering them a permanent position!
You won’t know until you try!

The question I’d be asking would be does class 1 in the ad mean only ‘class 1’ type work.
Lol you could be a rival agency looking to undercut the current one with the contract. I’m not surprised they won’t give the info.
I also can’t see why they can’t tell you the company. So you try and bypass the agency and go direct, and the company says “sorry we don’t have any jobs” or "sorry we don’t handle our recruitment but x y or z does if you go to them.
Why not apply for the job, you can always turn it down later when you find out who they are. Or if you start working for them and they’re a bunch of Muppets.
