Franglais:
Do you want to go on a coach trip?
Well go to the seaside, we will give you 35 pence to get on the coach. We will go swimming, sunbathe on the sandy beach, eat fishn`chips and candyfloss. Free beer for all !
Who wants that?
Great!
So we get on the coach, its a quid for the ticket, and we get 10 pence back. Its ■■■■■■■ down with rain, the storm means red “no swimming” flags, the beach is rocky, no food available, and the pubs are closed.
I`m sure you would be very happy with your coach trip.
I could copy and paste that and use it in it’s entirety to describe our former EU membership
Go on then…
Leave Campaign said:
£350 million a week…a lie even before we left.
The easiest trade deal in human history…still not fulfilled.
There will be no forms, no checks, no barriers of any kind [between Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK]…ha!
Trade with the EU will be tariff-free and involve minimal bureaucracy…Ha ha.
New trade deals, and access to a European trading zone ‘from Iceland to Russia’…we`ve got worse or equal deals with Aus NZ and Japan than the EU has. No deal with the US and not much chance of one (good or bad) soon.
Financial protection for farmers who get cash from Brussels…yeah? Ask a farmer about how that is going
Continued participation in EU science research schemes, deeper cooperation on scientific collaboration, plus increased funding for science… some yes, some no.
I wonder sometimes if it’s the standard Liberals contempt for his/her homeland that compels you or if it’s some deeper perhaps childhood trauma that shapes you ?

Tilting at windmills? How so?
I certainly see that the leave campaign came up with imaginary foes such as Turkey joining the EU, bendy banana laws, false accounting, health tourism, etc etc…
Did you get your degree in “psychological analysis” from the same university as RobRoy? Amazing how truck drivers can be so skilled in such work, and at such a distance.
34,000 Nigerians given study visas & 31898 dependents come with them in 2022 , that’s just Nigerians , 70,000 , if that applies to most countries + all those from Hongkong , Afghan , is it 30,000 + by boat , then all those we don’t know about , I’m baffled how there’s all these shortage of workers
How many vacancies is there in this country , any ideas ?

at the time of the referendum turkey joining was a real issue but not just that all the other countries that have an unoffical open border policy
bendy bananas was a thing in the 90’s and is why they had an eu sticker on them
only false acounting was from the pro eu camp that decried the fact that money paid in - money paid back made us the largest contributor
health tourisum go speak to any nurse /doctor and find out how much more it costs the nhs to provide translators and all the other assosiated issues.
yousaid in another post to go ask a farmer what they think… i suggest you go and ask a real farmer what he felt when he watched his farm that had been in the family for generations go into recivership when they couldnt sell thier crops and livestock when we joined the eu. Hint thats why alot of packhouses and industrial estates are old farms
robroy:
Are you surprised that politicians are not honest,.and are arse holes and liars, I have said this all along, it goes with the territory…but apparentlly all past PMs were honourable until Johnson came along I’ve been told …Aye right.
Who on earth said that to you i hope it wasnt someone that is old enough to of lived through the thatcher, major, blair years
I’ll give you a clue.
9 letters starting with an ‘F’ then a ‘r’ then the French word for English.
Can’t recall if it was a direct statement or an implication, but there ya go.
Ffs we’ve opened a can of worms on here getting on to EU and Brexit…he’s now in full flow…
The second wave will be along soon a barrage and bombardment of …‘‘links’’.
May God have mercy on arse holes.

I’m a bit disappointed that none of your posts have included any “links” to your point of view because we all know the rules are: no “links” means your point is not valid!

Points of view make for good reading, the link merchants must spend half of their lives finding a link to justify their claims

The well known troll RobRoy could spend all of his life looking for a link showing that F R anglais said
robroy:
…but apparentlly all past PMs were honourable until Johnson came along I’ve been told …Aye right.
Because I never said that.
Maybe R-R`s inner drama queen interpreted something I did say as such, or maybe he is simply making things up?
The nearest I could find was (assuming that anyone here might be remotely interested in the real world)
“The current bunch of Tories (in the past there were some honourable ones)…”
And
“There are plenty of honourable people in the Tory party,”
So, does anyone else think that “some MPS” = “all PMs”? Or “Plenty” = “all”?
If so R-R might be something other than a fool, or a liar, or a reincarnation of Oscar Wilde, without the wit (in every sense)?
And to continue the Oscar Wilde vibe…didn’t he say…
‘‘There is only one thing worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about’’
So cheers Frangers.
Anyhoo…
To carry on with the tangent off this thread…
The Govt are in ■■■■ turmoil…Quasi modo has resigned and Liz is hanging by a thread.
I bet those that conspired the treachery against Boris, after listening and pandering to the bleating minorities about the trivial and so called ’ partygate’ wish he was back now eh?
As well as the said ‘‘bleaters’’ who are now paying an extra hundred notes a month on their mortgages.
A classic case of …''Be careful what you wish for…
Treachery? Thats like saying it was treachery to arrest Peter Sutcliffe. Boris was a lying incompetent unfit for the job and got exactly what he deserved. The fact liz truss is even worse doesnt make him Gladstone.

I didn’t say it did…did I?
The irrefutable fact of the matter is,.whether you me or Joe Bloggs approve or disapprove, or love him or despise him, .the Tories only got in because of Johnson and his personality and arguable charisma.
People are that shallow these days, as I said before, it’s like voting on the ■■■■ Xfactor or Big Brother, with a high percentage of people today, they vote for personality over substance. …if the same dubious criteria stood in 1940 maybe even Churchill would not gave hot a look in.
The remaining percentage (again whether you like it or not) voted for him on his promise to deliver Brexit after all the previous dithering.
Long standing solid Labour constituencies voted for him,.he was their best asset.
The literal definition of what his cronies did to Johnson the likes of Gove and the rest of his ex mates is what I said …Treachery.
So now we have gone back to beige stereotype MPs like Hunt as the new Chancellor,.and a Poundshop Maggie Thatch as PM,.who has managed to achieve and supersede her (un) popularity in a matter if weeks, where it took Maggie 10 years to achieve the same amount of hatred.
Will people vote for them next time after this epic balls up in the economy.
I think not.
Cue Mr F accusing me of talking crap again., just for the hell of it

The economy has been ballsed up by throwing away our manufacturing industry now added to by the climate scam.
Every party is on board with more of the same.
At least Truss is relatively less onside with the latter.

Ahh, sweet. Always happy to help.

Upset? Accused of saying something that you never said?
robroy:
Wowsers!! and bloody hell !!
There you go, troll food!
Having fed our little pet troll, let`s get onto the stuff that should be taken more seriously:
JeffA:
Treachery? Thats like saying it was treachery to arrest Peter Sutcliffe. Boris was a lying incompetent unfit for the job and got exactly what he deserved. The fact liz truss is even worse doesnt make him Gladstone.
Absolutely.
Johnson mislead the Queen concerning the proroguing of Parliament. “This court has … concluded that the prime minister’s advice to Her Majesty [ to suspend parliament] was unlawful, void and of no effect. This means that the order in council to which it led was also unlawful, void and of no effect should be quashed."
He should have resigned then. Previous MP with any honour at all would probably have done so.
Mind you he should have resigned many, many times previous to that, but given his history it is no shock at all that he hung on as long as he did.
As you say, others also being incompetent doesn`t make him better, in any way at all.
robroy:
Wow mate, … you best calm down you’ll be doing yourself a mischief.
It’s just a FORUM ffs !! …don’t take it too [zb] seriously.
Ah! Has something outraged or astounded our little troll?
Or just a return to drama queen mode?
Extraneous capitals, lots of ! marks and emojies, and even a “ffs”.
Only one censored word? Tut, could do better.

Astounded? …
Aye maybe, here’s me thinking we were all grown ups.
You’re showing yourself up mate, just reel it in a bit .
I need to stop making you respond with childish jibes, to stop you digging any deeper,.so I reckon I’ll just draw a line under it.
But you just feel free to carry on…up to you,.but all you will achieve is getting the thread dumped…and making yourself look.a bit silly.
I’m oot, …mike dropped…
You win.
Your reward is THIS link

I think him being up against a very unpopular labour leader in corbyn and the single issue of brexit rather than any massive charisma on boris’s part. The country was pig sick of him in a couple of years.
