Anyone know of a new operation that’s opening in Uddingston a merger between 2 company’s. A local agency is recruiting for them I applied but agency won’t tell me the name of the company due to confidentiality apparently. They are allegedly looking for between 60 -80 drivers. All v secretive, cheers
60 - 80 drivers for probably 20 jobs knowing agency
It’s all v strange the agency is recruiting but it’s full time positions. The agency recruiting don’t usually recruit drivers mainly engineers & IT.
This is just a hunch as I can’t think of anything else in that area, but I think it could be the Bison concrete place which is part of Lang O’Rourke. They used to use Tennant Transport from Forth, but I believe they have started to use Select Plant for their transport which is also owned by Lang O’Rourke. As I say, its just a guess.

From what I’ve heard your hunch is spot on,
I heard a very well informed rumour Select are opening a depot in Uddngston in the new year.

The new depot will probably be in Bisons yard.
Yeh, The Bison yard.
Is Select Plant’s transport not now being run as a joint venture with WS Transportation, using the name Explore, which would fit in with the OP’s mention of a merger between two companies?

If this is true damoq this will be a big loss to Tennants !!! .
Tennant’s have been on the go for a long time, have a good set-up and are into all sorts of stuff, they’ll tender for other work and i wouldn’t expect it to have too much of an impact overall. When one door closes another ususally opens!
Found out a bit more info, it’s a company from
Bailleston in Glasgow merging with an English company moving into a new purpose built facility in Uddngston. Still no name though.

Recruiting staff for full time positions is their main purpose as a recruitment agency. I think very few of the current staff in any agency remember that though

When you do a company search on the directors, they only have 2. And one of the directors is a guy called David Norman cox. Who is also a director of WS transport. And we all know who really runs WS transport

Only company I can think of from baillieston is yusen logistics. But I’m not aware of them merging with anyone or moving to uddingston.
I still think it’s the select plant/explore logistics at the Bison concrete plant in uddingston. Select have a place and n broxburn, so maybe someone is mixing that up with baillieston?

They were in uddington just before Xmas ,and on more than one occasion I delivered into Glasgow using one of there tris ,think theyl be in there for a while
I found out today the name of the company moving from Baillieston to Uddingston. Well its actually Bothwell they are moving to. It’s a courier company called McLellans Transport. Don’t know who the merger is with and they certainly aren’t looking for 50 drivers. A few sprinter van drivers at most apparently.
Its R.T.Keedwell that are on the prowl for 50 or so victims. They’ve won a major blue chip contract and this agency are recruiting for them,
www.aspirare.co.uk
The job should be up and running by summer of this year.

Funny you say that cos I’ve noticed keedwells have some trailers parked in the yard McLellans are moving into. (Lynx Parcels old yard in Coalburn Rd). I thought they were just keeping them in there temporarily as the mob that’s doing the major works on the M74 are using their existing yard as access to the construction site. Maybe the joint venture is keedwells is doing the trunking and McLellans doing the final mile distribution.
